I have one DS and one DD on the way. They will be 2 years apart exactly. I toy w/ the idea of having 3 kids - but is this even possible when you work??
Financially- I'm not sure if 3 would be feasible- I would definitely have to continue working. DD and DS will have Sept. bday's- so they will probably start school late too...
anyone do this????
Re: Anyone have 3 in daycare?
We are going to by November. We both make pretty decent money (neither 6 figures, but together - not bad). We want 4 children each 2 years apart. We will pay our daycare about $25k next year for care for all 3 of our kids. We realize we could probably get a nanny for that and could definitely get by cheaper with in-home or nanny-share..but we LURV our daycare center so we will make it work. That said, our first two have July and August birthdays (cut off here is Sept 1) so our oldest will start school in fall of 2011 and that will help... But once #4 comes along we'll have the situation one more time for 1 year.
It probably would have bene smart for us to wait an extra year in between #2 and #3 so that we never had 3 in at the same time... Hmmmm. Oh well. Too late now.
It is definitely still worth me working though... That's only about 30% of my take-home...
I did for a few weeks after #3 was born. All three were at an in home DC and I was paying $615 a week with price breaks for twins and then siblings (high COL area). Aside from the cost, getting two toddlers and a newborn out the door in the morning and myself to work was a major ordeal.
We are all so much happier now that we have a nanny. It took a lot of the stress out of the equation and I am paying less to boot.
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame
We will have 3 in daycare in January, and possibly four (if we are fortunate to have another) in 2012. For one year 2012-2013 we will have negative salary. Our careers, financial plans and family planning are long term... I don't look at it from an immediate income standpoint. To make this happen effectively we save considerably and waste little- we balance it with reduced expenses.
Depends on what works for your family, maybe you can cut costs on something, or a couple somethings, where having 3 in daycare at once does not seem like a huge hit?
Good luck.
