Pregnant after a Loss

team green- anyone accidentally find out?

Big u/s is Thursday, and I have this irrational fear of accidentally finding out the gender, even though I dont want to know!

Someone IRL told me that when they went for their u/s for DD, the tech asked if they wanted to know.  They said no.  The tech then typed an F on the screen in the gender section.  WTF?!  I would be furious... has this happened to anyone here?

Re: team green- anyone accidentally find out?

  • Oh no, what a bummer.

I have to be honest, we aren't finding out, but thank goodness DH is really strong willed.  I would probably snoop and try to see for myself...I don't want to know, but I can't help myself (I still snoop for Christmas presents...I'm such a loser!)

My sister's husband ended up asking the nurse at theirs....she only lasted a week until she caved.  I would have been PISSED!!!

Oh, EXCITING times Thursday!!!!  I would tell everyone that walks into that room you don't want to know and tell them more than once!!!

  • No, but I could have. I moved across the country and took a copy of my records with me--in a sealed envelope. I know the gender was written in there (for no good reason, even my OB was confused as to why that had to be in there), but I didn't look. DH REALLY wanted to, but I kept my hands on it right until it went to the new OB. We also looked away when they scanned the crotch area, just in case.
  • During the scan we thought we might have seen a peen- however when we discussed it, we decided that our child was in no way that blessed and it was probably the umbilical cord!

  • I've heard a lot of people say they think they see a peen.  We didn't want to know the day of the actual scan and I totally thought I saw a peen - and apparently I was right!  I would ask the tech to let you know when she's going to be looking down in that area so you can turn your head.
  • We are team green and we told our u/s tech that we don't want to know.  If you want the tech to hide the parts, please speak out about it.  Our tech has been doing this for more than 30 years and figured only a trained eye would know the gender so she did not hide the parts.  But with today's Internet and the bump, there is a chance you can find out and we were kind of disappointed because we could give a good guess.  It is still a surprise to us because we can be wrong.
