I started at about 2-3 weeks. They say to wait until BF is well established. I became a human pacifier so had to find a paci that worked to save myself! If I didn't, I may have given up BF all together.
Milk is in and BF is going well, I'd like to use pacifier for the car or if I can't BF right away. However I don't want to mess with supply or latch.
When did you start?
I used a paci once in hospital when she was verrry fussy and I was exhausted. Then we didnt use it again for a few weeks, but I gave it to her yesterday off and on for fussiness.
If your baby had no latch issues from the start, my pedi says giving a paci anytime is fine. It won't really mess up your supply if you use it just for occasional fussiness. However its also good to let your baby just sooth herself at your breast whenever you can.
I was bound and determined not to ever...but after one night of inconsolable crying (night 3 after birth) I went out and bought one. Once I saw my little guy sucking away while sitting in his boppy with a face that looked like he was completely stoned I knew I was onto something and it was time to revise and rewrite my rules!

I totally agree with this. It was exhausting!!
Our ped. recommended waiting until after LO had regained her birth weight, so it was around 2-3 weeks. We haven't had any issues.
