I had a BPP and NST today since I am just about 41 weeks. Interestingly, the u/s people told me my due date actually should have been the 7th instead of the 9th, so I am more like 41 weeks, 1 day at this point. Anyways, everything looked perfect except they noticed some "residue" in the amniotic fluid which they suspect is meconium. My OB told me it was time to "throw in the towel" and get the baby out. I really wanted to avoid an induction because I am hoping to go natural, but I guess it is time to get things moving. It was encouraging to speak with my nurse today who delivered all 3 naturally, the final one being an induction with pitocin and she said she did okay since things moved fast. Mine tend to move fast, so I'm hoping I can manage. My OB is going to try and just break my water and hope that starts things without the pitocin since I am already almost fully effaced, 3 cm and have been contracting a lot for over a week.
Either way, it is kind of a relief to know there is a definite end in sight. We already dropped the kids at the grandparent's house, so now I just have to sit around and start dreading tomorrow! The good thing about not knowing when you will go is that you don't have time to really think about it. Oh well, off to book club tonight and will enjoy a glass of wine to help me sleep. Hopefully baby will be here quickly tomorrow and I can move on with my life!! ![]()
Re: BPP fail, induction tomorrow a.m.
Aw, try not to worry. I had to be induced with my second and was really nervous. And, you know? It felt exactly like my labor with my first. Not more painful. Not more intense.
Just make sure to ask the nurses to up the pitocin gradually. That way, uour body might kick in and start regular contractions.
Good luck!
