Does it really mean anything (labor coming etc.) when you start to efface?

    Not really, just that much closer when you actually do go into labor.

    It means your body is starting to get ready. But there is no timeline as to when LO will come. That's the magic of childbirth!

    It just means you're on the right track.  As of yesterday I am 50% effaced and my doc was like, "Well, that's a good sign, and you could go into labor any time . . . but I don't think the kid will be falling out immediately or anything."  (I love my doc--very down to earth.)

    I was 80% effaced and 3 cm dilated for about a month.  I think it is just good news that your body is ready so hopefully you can have a regular V delivery.
