Car seat ? (two?)

So I really wanted this car seat:

but this is the Peg Perego one and it is a little higher then we wanted to spend.

So we looked and I really liked this one!

its the combi shuttle 33 and got this a couple months ago when I had a 20% off coupon.

Then DH finds one of those custom car seat covers with blue silk and a camo print on it...actually its really cute..but it doesnt fit the combi because of the bar at the feet. So I said what the heck ill just add the Pergo seat to the registry and ill get it with another coupon for DH and see about returning the combi one...well my best friend from Cali just told me she ordered my Pergo car seat! Now im torn! I really do love how light the combi car seat is...should I just have DH have one and me have one for each car?? Anyone else getting two??

I'd say do both! My DH and I both have car seats in each of our cars for the kids!

That's a tough one.

Changing car seats around is a HUGE PITA!!!! But two also seems a bit much.

yeah thats what I told DH cause DD is just in a booster seat now so we have one in each..DH thinks he will just leave his car seat in his car and mine will be the main one..we do most of our "family" driving in my truck not the small eclipse he drives...im so torn!!

If your friend is getting you one as a gift, I'd say go ahead and keep both--one for each car. If your family will be anything like mine will be, DH will do his share of kid-carting, too, so it makes sense that you'd both have a seat. (Of course, I haven't been around little kids in a billion years, so I admit the idea of just buying 2 bases as pp suggested was news to me).

I think it is up to you. For our infant car seat that came with the travel system we just got 2 extra bases so I will have one for my car and my mom who will be watching LO will have one for each of her cars. But we were given a hand me down travel system and a hand me down infant car seat... so we gave the travel system to the ILs so they have a set of their own and since DH will hardly be taking LO in his car we put the extra car seat in his car. But if we weren't given those hand me downs we would have just gotten extra bases for the ILs and for DHs car so that way that one car seat could go in anyone's car...

But for when they outgrow the infant car seat since the ones that come with the travel system only go up to like 22-25lbs or something we got the convertible car seat that goes from 20lbs-100lbs and for those we got more than one because those are a pain in the butt to take in and out.

Do you have a stroller picked out yet? If you are using the infant seat with it that may limit which one will work. We are just getting an extra base for our car seat. I think that is a hard decision.

Yeah we are gonna get the combi stroller...we don't really plan on using it much and its only $130 so we will keep it around for when we do use it.

If it was me I would return one of the car seats and get a second base for the one you keep. Then you can use what's left over to purchase a convertable car seat. But DS was only in his infant car seat until 9 months or so when he started getting squished, so I wouldn't want so much money tied into car seats that aren't used super long.
