We are using unbleached prefolds or Kissaluv's fiited diapers (size 0) along with Bummis Super Brite covers (newborn size). DS was small and those were the only diapers that fit him. Now that he is a little bigger, we are using Thirsties diaper covers - the regular (size XS) and duo wrap (size 1) - along with our Bummis. HTH
We loved using our Green Mountain Diaper orange edge prefolds with xs Thirsties covers. If pfs aren't of interest to you then I suggest fitteds - we had small bumgenius bamboo fitteds that worked awesome (it's too bad they're discontinued now...).Oh and DS was born at 10 lbs, 7 oz and our GMD oranges fit him until 6 weeks.
green edged prefolds from cotton babies w/ thirsties XS and stage 1 duo wraps. BG OS pockets too. I also picked up a monkeydoodlez on clearance from nicki's diapers and I love them, but they only have small sizes left and DS has almost outgrown that size so i can't bring myself to buy anymore if he will be out of them soon.
Chinese pre-folds and Thirsties XS covers. This was the cheapest route. $1.50 for the prefolds and something like $11 for the covers. I bought from Cotton Babies.

KLOs and orange edge PFs from GMD. I prefer the thirsties sized covers to the duos.
