I just found out my work is having a shower for me a week before I leave the office - YAY! We had our shower early (April) because my mom moved out of state, and now we literally have everything we NEED...there are still some random odds and ends on our registry, but my office manager asked me to add some more stuff.
So, if you could add misc. items that are not necessities, but are just fun, what would you add to your reg? I was thinking a wipes warmer, diapers and wipes (because I guess you can never have too many) and just some toys or items for when she is older...what do you ladies suggest?
Re: Work shower - addt'l items for registry...
I would probably add wipes, but not diapers.. you're not going to know what kind of diapers work best with LO until she gets here, so it's probably a good idea not to get too many of one type/size.. For instance, we NEVER used Newborn size, Morgan was too big for them from day 1. We also bought 2 giant boxes of Costco diapers and hate them.
Also add things like baby tylenol, teething gel/tablets, teething rings, toys, etc.. If you're doing the daycare thing, it doesn't hurt to have extras to just keep at day care instead of toting things back and forth. Add anything that would be considered a "consumable" item that isn't size specific. I use the Playtex drop in bottles, so I registered for extra liners, you go through a lot of them, but damn it's nice not to have to scrub the bottoms of bottles
The wipe warmer is a personal choice..I registered for it with DS, and NEVER used it. It dried out the wipes and just seemed like a PITA to me. But everyone is different, my sister swore by hers and thats why she bought it for me! So, if you think you'd want it..go for it
I'd do toys and stuff, books, playmats, etc. Um, wipes for sure. It's hard telling someone what to get because every kid is different lol, but maybe if there's like one thing you reallly wanted but figured you didn't need it, try for that! You could always register for diaper genie refills, if you have one..bath toys and stuff like that as well.
I wouldn't get a wipes warmer.
I would register for things you already have, honestly. Then take them back to BRU and buy whatever you need. People want to buy you a Boppy, a bumbo, cute clothes, and tiny little baby blankets. People don't want to buy Diaper Genie refills or baby tylenol (which is what you'll actually need).
Unless it's a mom of 5.. my friend who has 5 kids bought me just this.. A diaper genie and 4 refills.. It was fricken awesome
I disagree that people don't want to buy you the "little things", like tylonal. Espcially people at work. I know at a former job I had, everyone pitched in and got me those "little" things and put them into a basket for me. That way they could participate, but still have it be affordable. I don't feel co-workers (unless really close, out of work, friends) would look to buy spendy items like swings, boppys or a pack-n-play. Plus, I know the majority of women I work with are grandma's...so they love any excuse to buy baby things and, having been moms themselves, recognize the need for the "little stuff".
Just my 2 cents
