Major sleep improvement!

Since that night I thought she sttn, Kaya has been sleeping until 6 am without nursing. She still wakes around 2 but Brady gets her back to sleep. On Saturday night I heard her at 12:50, 2-ish and 3-ish...But she fussed for less than a minute each time so I never had to go tend to her. (We usually wait at least 5 min before going to her room to see if she'll fall back asleep on her own.) Then she woke at 6:15 to eat. I'm hoping this continues and that she'll stop waking at 2 or start getting herself back to sleep each time she does wake.

  • that does sound like an improvement.  good for you all :)

  • that is great news! i think it was just a matter of time and her getting old enough to STTN :)
  • hooray! crossing fingers for you that this will continue going forward :-)
  • Fantastic!!! That's great.

Elyse is still waking up at about 2ish to eat.

  • That's great...is Brady bottle feeding her or she's not being fed at all overnight?  I am curious if Libby could go all night without nursing...she still feeds sometime between 2-3 a.m.  We bedshare, so it doesn't wake me up, but I wonder if she still needs this feeding or is just used to it?  She only takes a few ounces of milk in cup while I am at work so I suspect there's a tad bit of reverse cycling going on and the last thing I want to do is cut off her early morning nosh if she's actually hungry.  We may wait until we introduce solids to try and drop the nighttime feeding.

No, he just gives her the pacifier or her hands, sometimes white noise.  He said last night he just put his hand on her back/butt and jiggled her a bit.  I think at this age they don't NEED the night feed, but then again, if Libby doesn't eat enough while you're gone I guess she might need it.  Kaya gets at least 6 daytime feedings so I think we're tanking her up enough during the day.  When I work he feeds her 4 oz once or twice (depending on when I last nurse her) then an extra 2 oz after her bedtime routine right before bed to top her off.  If she was really hungry I know she wouldn't go back to sleep no matter what we do, and she definitely wouldn't go back to sleep for several hours like she does.

Minus the night feed, how many feedings is she getting?  I read that when they wake at the same time every night, it's habitual.  Like when we get used to waking up for work at the same time every day, eventually you don't even need an alarm clock because your body just wakes up.  Sporadic wakening is triggered by hunger.  But, then again, if she's not tanking up during the day, she may indeed be hungry at the same time every night.
