Re: Do you sing to your LO?

  • "You Are My Sunshine" was the lullaby I always sang to Nate. "Hush Little Baby" is the lullaby I sing to Abby. :o)

  • Twinkle twinkle little star/ABC's/Baa Baa Black Sheep (all the same melody)

    Rock-a-bye-Baby

Plus, I made up a LOT of little songs that would calm her down when she was upset....I still sing them to her.

Also, (and this is SO silly), but I sang and played, "Sweet Caroline" to her while I was pregnant.  For the longest time, it was the only song that would calm her down in the carseat....we had to play it over and over and over again, because she was a car-seat screamer...haha!  Nowadays, she will sing along with it and dance, whenever she hears it.

We sing pretty much everyday and read EVERY night.

    Some songs are:

Twinkle, Twinkle, Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children, Rock A Bye Baby, ABCs, Old McDonald, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Hush Little Baby, lots more--although I can't think right now:)

  • Thanks everyone!

  • I actually sing to him more than I read to him...I generally sing whatever is in my head...usually a gospel tune...he likes it.
  • I sing to her all the time...her fave is You Are My Sunshine...that one will calm her down every time.

Some others she likes are several 70's Disco hits, Jesus Loves Me, All the Little Children, any nursery rhyme, and several brad paisley songs :)

  • itsy bitsy spider, bumblebee song, six little ducks, head shoulders knees & toes, crawdad song, the wheels on the bus

And, as I'm sure you know, newborns could care less what exactly that you're singing to them, just as long as it's soothing and sweet....and that it's YOUR voice....that's the most important part, honestly.
