Ok to keep pumping into same bottle?

I'm pumping at work for the 1st time. Is it ok to keep pumping into the same bottles even though they may warm up to room temp. temporarily each time?

Re: Ok to keep pumping into same bottle?

  • I EP and use the same pump parts and bottles for 3 pumps.  I just rinse the parts with cool water and put them in the fridge between pumps.  I empty my milk from each pump into big bottles.

  • I'm sure it's fine - but I would not.

  • Sorry, I meant pumping into the same bottles with milk from the previous pump in it. Is it ok if the milk warms temporarily each time? Thanks!

  • My LC told me to just mix same temp milk - so cold to cold, room temp to room temp.  So, I wouldn't pump into the same bottle, just in case.
  • I'm pretty sure I read that when combining just pumped milk with a refrigerated bottle, you should refrigerate it first to cool it, and then combine it. So, you probably shouldn't pump into the same bottle.

  • i wouldn't just b/c you are adding warm milk to cooled milk and bringing them temp up multiple times during the day and may make it sour quicker.

i pump into the same bottles/pump parts all day and keep them in the fridge b/t pumps at work.  i just pour my milk into big bottles after each session and keep those in the fidge as well.

  • Ok, thanks everyone!
