What birth control methods have you used (besides bcp)? My bcp has caused some issues (see below post) and I am thinking about just going off bcp all together and using a back-up method. I am allergic to latex condoms, so what methods have you guys used?? I would also like to go ahead and let my body regulate and start charting before we start trying in August.

Re: birth control methods (wdyd)
It might be hard (depending on your cycles) but there is always chart to avoid.
And the age old pull and pray...we did the pull and pray for a while and got lucky !
I've only ever used hormonal BC or condoms, neither of which are an option for you. Can you tolerate spermicide? Have you looked into a diaphragm? Since you are planning to TTC soon anyway, that limits your options more (ie no point in getting an IUD).
Or you could try charting to avoid.
They have nonlatex condoms which I would use along with spermicide if I was in your situation.
We did pull and pray for a little while. Now that I know I can't get pregnant on my own I feel stupid for wasting all of the potential orgasms I would have had if DH hadn't pulled out at just the wrong time for me. BOO!
I wouldn't recommend charting to avoid on it's own when you're first off the pill.
I think they now make the today sponge again, I've heard great things about that, but haven't used it myself.
Good luck!

Pull and pray can actually be suprisingly effective. I don't think it's any fun though LOL.
Seriously, if it were me I would go off. We used charting w/ pull out method and abstaining around O from Jan - Sept last year. I didn't get KU (obviously). I wish I could have stayed off but I couldn't.
ETA: I should include that if we had gotten pg it would have been ok with us, not ideal, but ok. If it's not ok for you, I would add non-latex condoms, or any of the many other suggestions here.
This.
after anovulatory diagnosis and TTC for 1 1/2yrs with several medicated cycles and one chemical pregnancy, we have our first bundle of joy!

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I would use chart to avoid.
We did this too. I thought we were lucky not getting KU, but now I know that it was probably because I wasn't ovulating to begin with.
BFP #1 - BFP #2 - Blog
and Luck to my BFPB StephK!!- Emma is here!!
In one of your earlier posts (like from last week maybe), you alluded to going off BCP but not TTC just yet, and I commented on using spermicidal inserts, including the brand name of what DH and I used. I can't find my post now (the bump is only showing me my knot posts from 3 years ago - thanks, bump), but if you search your posts you may be able to find it.
I don't remember what it's called, and it's at home and I'm at work.

I'm also allergic to latex and I had issues with hormonal bc. So, for years we used Trojan Supra condoms in conjunction with a spermicide. They are non-latex.

This would also allow you to chart in advance of TTC which would help you to understand your cycles. Good luck!I was in the same boat as you and we used Vaginal Contraceptive Film (VCF). Its a thin square of spermicide that you insert before you have sex. It was much better than any other method I have used.
You can get it at any pharmacy next to the condoms. https://www.vcf-contraceptive.com/
I just went over to check out your post about you BC and can maybe offer one suggestion. I was having MAJOR problems with the pill (the peak in hormones was making me physically sick every morning). It's not the same situation, but I can tell you that when I got on secretion hormones (I was on nuvaring, but the patch works the same way) my issues went away. The hormones are at a constant lower level rather thank having the peak that pills have.
It was really easy to use too! I can't comment on how quickly your system regulates, since I just stopped taking mine last Wednesday, but it may be an alternative that would work for you.
