3rd Trimester

BH, prodromal, what is going on?

So I don't know why I'm so confused with this.. but... I thought once you start having "real" contractions they are supposed to continue and get stronger and more frequent, etc.

So should I assume that the irregular contractions I've had are BH? Even if they are accompanied by pretty intense menstrual like cramping and pain radiating from the back?  I've had a lot of BH for a while now, and they have actually started to happen on a time table - but only recently have been having this type of pain.. and it literally has only come with one or two of the contractions per day.  Oh and last night I woke up (a lot) from the BH which I thought was weird.  Just curious what your opinions are... going to bring it up at my birthing class tonight and tomorrow's doc appt.

It's defintely possible to have these types of contractions and pains and still last a few more weeks right? They don't HAVE to be signs of impending labor? Everything I read on prodromal labor says something different. I need reassurance I'm not going to meet LO until July. Pls tell me all of your long-labor and false-labor experiences! Thanks!

  •   A BH is a contraction.  But it is normal for contractions to start and stop before you actually go into active labor.  GL

  • I've been having timeable contractions every 2-5 minutes for going on 6 days. They are moderately painful and I have to breath through them. I went to L&D, but since my cervix wasn't changing (stayed at 2 cm overnight), they are calling it prodromal labor and making me wait it out. It is very uncomfortable for sure!

When is your next appt? Will you have an internal? You should definitely ask for something to help you sleep!

Next appointment is tomorrow... I was closed as of last week so hopefully I will find out the same thing tomorrow. I'm not ready for progress! And, yes, it's definitely not comfortable.. but as long as things aren't happening too early for me I'll be happy to deal with it! Too much to accomplish in the rest of June.. I need a July baby!
