if you make your own baby food

I have two questions:

1) did you make your own cereal, too? and if so, was it fairly simple? i am looking at wholesomebabyfood.com, but wanted some first-hand input.

2) do you have a rave for a food processor or blender?

Any other tips or ideas are appreciated!

Re: if you make your own baby food

  • I don't make my own cereal, but i love my blender.  I have a kitchen aid.  It was a birthday present from DH, it matches my mixer :)  It does a wonderful job pureeing the veggies.  I didn't go out and buy a special baby food food processor although they do sell them.

  • We're going to skip the traditional first cereals and starting with sweet potatoes, carrots, avocado, etc.  I will make her cereal down the road.  I have a food processor that my DH bought me and probably spent $30 on it.  It works fine.

  • i second the kitchen aid. i have the mixer and blender that were pasted down from my grandmother and works like theyre brand new
  • 1) I didn't/don't make my own cereal.

    2) I tried a blender first (for sweet potatoes and carrots) and wasn't thrilled with the results. I just used our food processor for squash and loved how much better it turned out.

I also turn to wholesomebabyfood.com for ideas/suggestions, so you're looking in the right spot! I have really enjoyed making food so far and it's saving us a lot of money. Good luck!
