He's going on an annual Father's Day camping trip next weekend with his friends. Where all the dads bring their kids camping for the weekend and my H and his (luckily, single and childless) BFF go camping for the weekend.
Now, let me explain. My H is the outdoorsman's outdoorsman. He's Macguyver and Bear Grylls rolled into one. He always harvests and chops our own firewood (anything dead and on the ground is fair game here), builds amazingly efficient campfires that burn for hours, can clean a fish, clean and quarter big game, immediately memorize natural landmarks and navigate his way through the woods, etc. Also, we have two very cute, very well-behaved, very fun to play with dogs. Plus, he is heartbreakingly good with kids. So, needless to say, he is a total hit with the kiddos during this weekend camping trip. And some of these kids' dads are total douchecanoes, which makes him an even bigger hit with those kids.
I really don't know how he does it. There's no way I could do an annual Mother's Day trip with all my friends who are moms, regardless of how much I love them and their kids.
