a couple of questions about PDD-NOS

Hola!

My twin boys (23mo) were both diagnosed with PDD-NOS in May.

1. Should I have blood work done to check for chromosomal abnormalities?

2. does anyone know around how much would floortime therapy cost?

Re: a couple of questions about PDD-NOS

  • My daughter was diagnosed at about 22 months,. Blood work was part of her work-up, per her neurologist, along with an MRI and EKG (she'd had a pattern of zoning out, so we wanted to rule seizures out).

DD doesn't do Floortime- not technically, anyway. Her therapists all do ABA with her, though any breaks they take from the table really look like Floortime. Either therapy (Floortime or ABA) is covered here in MA for kids under the age of three by Early Intervention. I did ask my therapist what the cost would be for someone paying for therapy out of pocket, and she told me 75$ per hour for a BA (Behavioral Analyst- that's what the therapists are called), and $125 per hour for a BCBA (Board Certified Behavioral Analyst- she oversees the BA's and DD's ABA program and comes out every couple of weeks for a minimum of 3 hours.) I'm not sure how intensive Floortime should be at this age, but I know ABA is recommended at pretty high rates, so that gets expensive *very* fast (i.e. DD's 15+ hours of therapy per week x $75 = $1125 PER WEEK. ouch.)
