Hey Britt! I just wanted to say "hi" and it's great to see you around now that school is out. I can't believe Ellery is just about 9 months old. Time sure flies.
Thanks for the tip on Cotton Babies. They've got a great prefold sale going on right now. Their free shipping doesn't apply to Hawaii, but even with the priority shipping charges, it's still the cheapest I could find. I'm going to place my order tonight!
Re: ::: Britt :::
hey nicole! yes, i finally feel like i have a little time for nesting . . . or "bumping" now, i guess! it's so great to be at home for a change with the LO. what is your mat leave like? i only had 6 weeks, so i am loving the summer off! and yes, she's getting so big! time DOES fly.
i am so happy about your baby boy on the way! you look ADORABLE in your PIP photo . . . such a cute PG girl! i am so happy you decided to CD, i think it will save you a lot of $$. buying stuff off our local craigslist too, can save a lot.
did you go to baby awearness for the CD workshop? i LOVE that store!
Hi Britt! We checked out Baby Awearness last week Saturday. Brian mentioned he was interested in CD so we decided to check it out. I still can't really believe we're actually doing this.
I know it's the right decision for us, though. The BA workshop was really informative. It's so hard to get a feel for what it will really be like by purely doing online research. I liked the demos and enjoyed playing around with the diapers afterward. I wish they had a location a little closer to us, though (we live in Mililani).
I bought my prefolds this morning and cannot wait for them to arrive! My diaper covers are also on their way. I feel myself entering that "nesting" mode. I've got so many ideas for purging all the crap we currently have and storing and organizing all this new baby stuff!
I was looking at Cragslist the other day. I saw that someone was trying to sell a Million Dollar Baby changing table for just $20!!! I pretty much decided we didn't need a changing table (nor did we have the room for one), but I was so tempted to get it just because of the deal! I'm still considering it, but I better decide soon!
Thanks for the compliments on my bump. Sometimes I still feel like I just ate too much. I had a bit of a "bump" already before becoming PG so I still don't think I look PG just yet. I just look like my pre-Weight Watchers self.
Maternity leave. We don't really have something called "maternity leave". Whatever time we take off comes out of our own sick and personal leave. But, we are covered under FMLA so they are required to give us up to 12 weeks off. A girl who used to work in our office managed to get approval for a total of 15 months off when she had her baby in 2008! I would like to take at least 6 months off, but that entire time would be leave without pay. We're not sure how that will fly once Brian is officially unemployed in 3 weeks.
I'm so happy you are able to spend time with Ellery now! I can't imagine only having 6 weeks off, but you made it work. You rock! Was Ellery going to day care while you were working? I haven't even begun to look into day care options. Aside from lisakeiko, none of my friends have babies so no recommendations there. And you just never know who you can trust these days!
hey! sorry this took awhile, our internet access is really spotty.
i am so happy to hear you might be able to take 6 months off! that's truly awesome. i do know what it's like with the unemployment thing however--john was unemployed for nearly a year, and now's he started his own business (yikes) so me not going back to work was not an option. while i was working, we were really lucky in that my grandma was able to take care of E . . . soooo nice for her to be with family, and it was free! i have a friend who is due in Sept and has been looking at daycares . . . i will pass along any info i find out from her!
