Update on TTC

Here is where I stand right now:

My cycle is about 33 (plus minus a day) and I haven't been on BC since June 2006 and I was on the pill for only 2 years...Right now I'm on CD 41, no aunt flo, no pregnancy symptoms...this has never happen to me before.

I didn't get a positive OPK this cycle and I haven't gotten a positive HPT.

My temps are pretty high, but I had a drop this morning (so I'm waiting to see if the witch decides to show up today).

I'm very frustrated/discouraged/sad because I have no idea what's wrong with me. I have an appointment on the 22nd, but it seems so far away.

Re: Update on TTC

  • I'm sure that is frustrating. I know the waiting game is really hard. Your appointment is only a little over a week away though! I hope you get some answers soon.
  • Loading the player...
  • It sounds like you temp so did you have temperature shift to show you ovulated?  If not, you could be having an annovulatory cycle...that happens sometimes.  Its no big deal except to frustrate the heck out of a person!

On a side note, if you don't get pregnant this cycle, you should go straight to a reproductive endocronolgoist.  If you have been off any form of birth control for 4 years and aren't pregnant, there is no reason to stick with an OB whose speciality is dealing with pregnant women, not in getting them pregnant.

  • You mentioned you have not been on BC since June 2006, but since then how long have you been actively trying to get pregnant?

I have never been on BC and when DH and I decided to try it took us 13 months to conceive, and there was no reason for it, other than me probably trying to hard to get pregnant lol....

Don't get frustrated although I know exactly how feel, I have been there!!

    Try and stay positive hon!!

  • Honestly, I had an annovulatory cycle the cycle before I became pregnant due to stress.  I wasn't 100% sure I had my period that previous cycle (preconception) because I just had some spotting one day about the time that I would have expected my monthly to show up.  So try to relax and not worry about it too much.  If you've been trying for a while and have a doctors appt already, explain to them what's going on and see if any basic testing needs to be run (like blood work to check your thyroid or other levels like hormones).  The reason I had the annovulatory cycle is because I had extreme stress at work which of course affected my sleep, etc.  But just because you have one doesn't mean you can't get pregnant the next cycle.  Keep that in mind.  Obviously everyone is different but try to relax b/c the stress from TTC obviously can be a pretty big factor on what's going on in your body.  GL!
  • How long have you been TTC, Normailed?

  • Do you have a link to your chart?  Those can be very telling sometimes!
  • We have been TTC since December; so 6 months now.

And no I don't have a link to my chart because I started charting kinda at the middle of this cycle again...I know I suck...I should be more consistent. BUT what I can tell you is that I never got the dip and high temps for 3 days in a row (probably because I didn't charter when I was supposed to ovulate...now for that pattern it looks like an annovulatory cycle (temps up and down), plus since I never got a positive OPK and my period is not here...I'm guessing that's what happened.

Also we do the BD every day or at least every other day, so there is no way we missed the window.

I will look into going to a RE if I don't get pregnant on my next cycle.

Usually RE's won't take you as a client until it's been a year of well timed intercourse without a pregnancy unless you have a medical condition that could hinder fertility or over the age of 35. Plus, they are super expensive. Is there anyway to get the tests done with your OB first? I would suggest trying with your OB first and then if it still doesn't work in another 6 months, go to an RE. I KNOW how frustrating it is (as you well know) and giving you hugs. Any questions, let me know.

Yes...I'm going to my OB on the 22nd and I'm definitely going and getting her opinion first (plus I wanna get some blood work done)...if I don't get any answers and I keep having wacky cycles...then I'll look into going to the RE.

Hopefully is just stress and I don't have to get to that. But I've always had the fear that I can't have kids (two of my aunts couldn't and my cousin had to go through years of treatments to be able to have kids)...so I have some money set aside in case I have to go through treatments or in the event that we decide to adopt.

And I'm sure as time goes on I'll have a million questions, so I appreciate your input a lot. It's good to know that I'm not alone on this and there are some girls here that have gone through what I'm going through now.
