Natural Birth

Hypno Mama check in!

Hey ladies, how are you doing? Anything new to report? What disc are you listening to this week?

I had an ob appt this week, where I asked a ton of L&D questions. My hospital's "birthing center" should just be called L&D because my options are pretty limited =(  Once my water breaks, I have to be in bed, and I have to deliver on my back. Feeling a bit defeated, but I am still going to go for it!

  • Morning! Dh and I are considering a home birth to avoid any hospital-imposed complications. Kind of late in the game, but it feels right :) Have a great Sunday!

  • Wow - I've never heard of a birthing center that makes you stay in one position.  That does seem more like a hospital than a birth center.  I want a home birth but DH is still too nervous.  I'm not going to argue with him though because he's being pretty liberal about other things he's not completly comfortable with! :o)  Luckily we are able to have a MW in a hospital and they are pretty good.

  • good afternoon ladies (or good morning if you live on the west coast).  I'm ending my first CD this week.  I keep falling asleep and waking up at the end of the CD.  I hope I'm retaining the knowledge that I need.  Maybe I'll try listening to them during the day instead of at bedtime.
  • Sorry to butt in - but what CD are you referring too?  I've only been reading books and am hesitant to purchase a CD.  Recomendations anyone?

  • i'm still on disc 1.  I haven't been doing the reading.  last night i listened to my extra track for sleeping easier.  I turned it off halfway through because it was keeping me awake!  I'll probably go to bed early tonight and read the workbook.

I bought another CD for my DD - Toddler sleepy time, ro something like that.  She loves it and asks to listen to "the lady" every night before bed.  She has STTN the past few nights, but I don't know that I can contribute it to "the lady" yet! lol

  • if it makes you feel any better i did my hypnobirth in the bed, on my back and it was totally fine.  i had planned on laboring in a tub and moving around too but things progressed way too quickly for that.

Same here.  I was kind of surprised, but it was really how I was most comfortable.  I asked the MW whether I should switch positions after about an hour of pushing, and she said no, it was working, and don't rush it.

I think it is odd that they would *make* you stay that way, but it was fine for me.

I love the "Rainbow Relaxation" and the "Positive Birthing Affirmations" from Hypnobirthing.  I think you can buy them from the website.  We got ours from the class.  Anytime I feel any type of anxiety about birthing, I just listen to the Affirmations and I feel so calm and excited again.

  • I'm not in a class, but I've been reading the book and listening to both the CD that came with the book and Rainbow Relaxation.

I like the Birth Affirmations and the Rainbow Relaxation best.
