gettin up early..know he's still tired

DS will wake up in his crib around 5:30ish and play for a little..i used ot just leave him and he would sometimes go back...now he fullon cries and screams. Even if i feed him he doesn't so i know he's not hungry. But then the whole first 30-45 min. he is up he is rubbing his eyes, crying, grabbing his blankey...he is so tied. What can i do...i guess i could let him cry a little longer in hopes he settles back in ..any ideas??

  • I posted this yesterday, but that's all I've got. So if you already have it really dark in the room, I don't have any other ideas. I tried everything else to no avail, but this worked for us! (so far, knock on wood)

  • thanks! I do have the roomdarkening but there is some light that creeps in through the edges and so there is a light square kinda around the window if that makes any sense. I wonder if this would have anything to do with it? Do your shades make your boys' room absolutley pitch black?

We actually still just have the blankets up right now (didn't want to spend the money on room darkening blinds/drapes if they didn't work). But yes, the blankets we have over the windows make it really, really dark - way darker than just our regular blinds underneath. I'm not sure if it would make a difference for your LO, but you could always give it a try with something temporary before spending money on something else.

  • I know you said he's not hungry in the morning but when DD was doing this, I started giving her a bedtime snack (around 7-730p). She sleeps until 630-7ish since starting this. Prior to that, she would wake up 530ish but didn't really want to eat but was cranky.
