Hoag birthing courses

Hi there :)

For those who are giving birth at Hoag and are taking the OB Education courses, when did you sign up and how far along will you be when taking the courses?

I'm looking at Prepared Childbirth, Breastfeeding, Baby Saver, and Baby Care Basics.

I don't have a ticker yet, but I'm due Oct 27th. Thanks!!

We actually have our first class on Saturday!  We signed up at 13 weeks to ensure a space and will be 29 weeks when taking the first class (childbirth) ...then we have another one the next week (Baby care) and then our last one (baby saver) the first week of July. No BF classes because we have a nurse friend who is helping me with that.  So about 7 months along.  We are due in August.  Hope that helps!

You might want to look at signing up now...I have no idea how quickly their classes fill up!

  • What are the costs of these classes?
  • Just to add my 2 cents but I delivered at Hoag and took all prenatal classes through Pacificord in Irvine.  The instructor, Wendy, was wonderful and all the classes were free.  You can go on their website and sign up for any or all classes.  :)
  • We signed up when I was 26 weeks and took the classes when I was 32 weeks. The prepared childbirth is around 100 for the 3 week course and a little bit more (not sure how much more) for the super saturday. The breastfeeding class is 35 for a 1 night class. I didn't get much from any of the classes but I'm still glad I took them.
  • Thanks guys, I will check out Pacificord as well.

With the exception of the prepared childbirth course, the ones I listed are $35 each and that's for you and your partner. We're doing the Super Saturday prepared childbirth, so it's $135 instead of $100, and includes lunch for both of us.

  • We are taking all the classes at Hoag. We just took the Baby Saver class. We are doing the Super Saturday on the 19th of this month and two more in July. The prices were pretty fair I thought. I signed up when I was around 4 months pregnant and I am almost 28 weeks now.
