Someone tell me I CAN do this!!!

We're preparing to head out on our first big car trip.

Just me (no DH) and the 2 little boys.

16 hours each way + a 3 hour each way side trip in the middle of the 2 weeks we'll be gone.  That's 38 total hours alone in the car with these 2 kids.

I can pull this off, right?

I'm a strong, independent woman.

They're older now and not as difficult as they used to be travel wise, right?

Jace will not run out into the middle of a parking lot after being restrained for hours on end and get himself killed, right?

 

 

Cold feet.

Can you tell?

 

What the hell was I thinking?

 

 

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

    Oh wow!  Good luck!  Hope you have lots of books/toys/snacks.  My DS would sit and watch Elmo/eat for hours, so he would probably do ok as long as I was prepared...

    You CAN do this!  :)  No one's ran into the parking lot up to this point, right?  You've handled much much worse.  Plus, you'll have DH so one of you can sit in the back if you need.  Are you planning to do most of the driving at night?  This worked best for us.  GL!

    No DH.  

    Just me and the boys.

    And we're doing it all during the day because DH doesn't want me driving without back up when it's dark.

     

    And... you haven't met Jace.

    What ever I tell him not to do....he's gonna try to do.  HIs middle name is Dane but it should have been Defiant.

    I don't really know you, but I have seen your advice on this board, and I have no worries.  You can pull this off.  It probably isn't going to be fun, but all you really have to do is get through it.   Are you staying overnight somewhere during your trip?  Will you have help at the other end?

    If anyone can do it, YOU can!!! I'm sure you'll be fine. Your boys are at an older age and much more manageable in terms of logic and reason.......

    Even though I am NOT a TV mom, in this instance, since they are strapped into their carseats and not able to move, a DVD player would be a nice idea as a treat or break for them.

    you can totally do it!  my first thought when i read this was "FUN!"  what a great chance to spend with your boys, showing them the beautiful land out there (think of all the cows you'll see! lol).

    oh and just make sure you park closest to the grass area at rest stops, that way you don't have to worry about jace bolting away.

    do you have a portable dvd player?  we are doing a 6 hour drive each direction next month and are bringing our dvd player so the boys can watch Cars..... multiple times.

    This.  We bought lots of Wiggles DVDs when Blockbuster Video was going out of business for $1 each.  GOLDMINE.

    We travel a lot (but only 6-8 hours each way).  GL!!!
