Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Question from 3-6 :Working Mom's who BF come in..

I am going to be going back to work when DD is 6 months old and I am trying to get a pumping schedule set for my work. I was curious to what yours is and how much I will be needing to pump. I can get about 3 oz after a feeding right now. I assume that will be about 7- 10oz. I work 8-5 so if I pump 3 x a day would that be enough??

TIA!!

Re: Question from 3-6 :Working Mom's who BF come in..

  • I feed her before I leave for work, and then pump first thing when I get to work (7:15).  Then I pump at 10:30 and 1:45.  So 3x a day.  My daughter takes three 6oz bottles at daycare, but I don't pump enough during the day to give her that, so I pump once before going to bed too.

  • I work 9-hour shifts and usually pump about 2x/day. I also pump after morning feeding and before bed. As long as I am using the Medela electric pump I get enough, but I was using the hand pump at work for awhile and supply in the fridge really dwindled. I take home about 10oz/day from work and that has always worked for us.
  • I go off of how many times DD eats while I am away.  She is currently taking 2 7-oz bottles and eating one meal of solids, so I pump twice to match her bottle intake.  I am usually able to pump enough but some days I'll be a little short so I'll pump again after she goes to bed.  GL!

This. DD eats 2 six ounce bottles so I just pump twice.

WHen I first went back to work though, I was pumping way more often since she ate more often.  If she ate every three hours then thats when I pumped.  My work let me pump as many times as I needed to equal my half hour break, so I did 3 ten minute sessions.  Now I do 2 fifteen minute sessions instead. • I pump at 9 12 and 3 and nurse before and after work. Works well for me, I also pump before work because DD only nurses on one side so I have to pump the other so i dont leak
  • I bf my ds around 6:30am then I pump 2x at work (9:30am and 2p). I am still going to nurse him at lunch but if I wasn't doing that I would pump 3x (around noon). I usually get 6-9 ounces every session total.
