Babies: 6 - 9 Months

? about babyfood....

Im sneaking over from 3-6 to ask a quick question :

Whats the difference between stage 1 and 2? Also, when do you move LO up to stage 2? The reason I ask is because our local grocery story has Gerber stage 2 on sale for $.98 and thats for a 2 pack of the little plastic containers.  It's usally almost $2 but I didn't know the difference and if LO was ready? Im going grocery shopping tomorrow and was going to pick those up instead of stage 1 since they were cheaper and more in a container.

TIA!

Re: ? about babyfood....

  • I really didnt notice a difference except that the stage 2 foods are a bigger serving size and they have more flavors.

  • I would just get them on sale and if you want to wait to use them, wait. I think that stage one foods are the "safest" foods allergy wise, and there is slightly less in the containers. I didn't notice the stage 2 being any chunkier, and since they say 6m and up and your LO is almost there, I don't think its a big deal.
  • there are still some single ingredient stage 2 foods.  i would get those for LO to eat now and if you want to stock up get some of the mixed flavors for later (i did this when earth's best was on sale)
  • FWIW, Our pedi. said to switch to stage 2 after LO had tried all the stage 1's.
