if BD lives in another state than you...

what is visitations like?

what is child support like?

for instance LO and I live in CA, DB is in AZ. would the laws of CA only apply or does AZ laws have any affect on the situation?

much input needed! thank you!

    Usually the court order is for where the child lives.  But some courts will take jurisdiction from where the child was born, where the divorce finalized, and I heard from one girl on one of these boards that one state goes by where the child was conceived but I think that might be unrealistic and highly suspect info.

    If you don't have a CO yet you should set up an appointment with a family law lawyer and find out what your rights are.

    Our is KY and TN.... it all depends. In my case we were divorced is KY and everthing was set-up there. I moved with the courts approval as soon as the court gave me the OK. Our custody agreement has always been the orginal one that was agreeded to in KY with every other weekend and holidays, 4 weeks in the summer for him and 2 weeks after Christmas for him. The kids are always with me on Christmas day and him on Christmas eve.

    After six months of living in TN I could move things here and I did when he started to not pay CS. It was a battle because I had to chase him down in several counties in both TN and KY. Our case has always been a battle and it still is to this day. I refuse to give up my kids and he refuses to work with me. I would do a lot of research for yourself and see what the possiblities are.

    Ours like I said could be moved to were the kids are after 6 months. Check to see were the laws benfit you if you have a choice. In the county I live the courts are more pro fathers but in KY they were pro mother.

    is it court ordered that your children have to go see him? what if your kids do not want to go visit their dad? does that make a difference for you?

    I live in CA and my stbx lives in CO.  We go by CA laws regarding CS and visitation.  I do believe you have to reside in the county you live in for a min of 6 months to file a CS/visitation claim.  Visitation will most likely depend on the age of the child and if you two can agree upon any type of visitation. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
