OK, reporting back that I FINALLY got the Ergo I ordered from YellBaby. Thanks, Lori, for the tip. I got it for $94 total (incl shipping) and no tax. It arrived in the mail last week and we started using it this past weekend. I am trying to love it... But I'm having a hard time. Who else has this carrier?
I tried it on at Buy Buy Baby and it felt great. So I am not sure what's wrong with the one I have, but the shoulder straps just don't seem to fit very well. I have been making it as tight as I possibly can, and yet they still fall off my shoulders! It's NOT comfortable walking around trying to hold my shoulders back so that the strap won't slide off. It always feels like it's on the verge of slipping. And having to push it back up every few steps is annoying. Am my shoulders just too narrow for this carrier?
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else had this problem with the Ergo.
Note -- I don't think this would be a problem if I could cross the Ergo straps across my back instead of using the chest strap, which btw is very hard to secure on my own.
I have since discovered that other carriers, like the Pikkolo and Beco, allow you to crisscross the straps when doing a front carry and then use the chest strap when doing a back carry. Of course I did not know to look for this feature before I got the Ergo! Doh!
So... Maybe we'll keep it for back carry and for DH. But I still need a go-to carrier that I can use for her as she gets heavier and heavier! Arg!
Re: Ergos -- Who has them? Recommend other carriers!
Probably a stupid question but do you also, as well as the waist belt, secure the belt that runs across the top of your back/shoulders? It sits just below the neckline on me.
Maybe we have different models?
I really love this carrier. It was super comfy carrying Maya in it.
yea, I'm thinking maybe you don't have the back connector strapin the right position - it is adjustable. Mine sits right under my neck, if it's lower the straps will fall off.
I loosened all the straps once so I could NIP with him in the carrier and the shoulder part kept falling down then, but once it's properly tightened everywhere I don't have that issue...
Hmm. I *am* using the "chest strap" clip that goes across the back, but maybe it's not positioned right? I have it as tight as I can make it but maybe it's not high enough? Will see if I can ajust.
However I must say that is pretty much impossible for me to put this carrier on without someone to clip that for me... Do you loosen it every time you put it on? (No where near as easy as the Belle is to put on!)
I do like how with the Ergo the weight sits more on my waist, but this soulder strap problem makes it unstable and takes away the benefit of the sturdy waist belt. Arg!
Will try it again tonight and report back....

yes, try to move the chest strap up. I don't have it in front of me - but I think there is a way to make it stay in that place if you utilize the hood snap loop area. Have you checked out the videos on their website? Although not the point of this video check out the way the "chest strap" is positioned and kind of locked into place with help of the hood straps: https://videos.ergobaby.com/en-us/2-1-front-carrier-position-2/2-2-removing-your-baby/
(close up of the back should pop up as the start of the video)
Once you have it pretty high up I think it's a lot easier to get the chest strap clipped, to me it's no more difficult that putting my hair up or clipping my halter style bathing suit (same general movement of both arms). Hope that makes sense.
