Body pillow users, come in! Which one?

Okay, for the last few nights, I've had a very hard time finding a comfortable spot to sleep... and I'm only 15 wks!  God knows how I'll be sleeping come another 15 wks!

Anyway, I'm thinking in buying a body pillow, as I've heard a lot of women recommend them.  If you used one, which one did you use?  Why was it so comfortable?  Any cons?

Thanks!

Re: Body pillow users, come in! Which one?

  • I just have one of the basic body pillows that you can get at target and it works great for me. I didn't need any of the specialty pillows (i.e. the Snoogle) because I found that the reg. body pillow did the trick.
I'm sorry you are having a tough time sleeping. I wish that I could say that it gets better but ... ;-) Happy pillow shopping!

  • I tried several, including the snoogle (i think that's what it was called) and I felt like it was secretly trying to smother me in the middle of the night.  What worked was just the long pillow that was straight that i could position between my thighs.  The idea is that you want to keep your hips parallel to the bed in alignment and it helps with that.   Plus if you want to flip to the other side in the middle of the night it's a lot easier with that than the others ones.

  • I use two regular pillows.  One firmer one for between my knees and one fluffy snuggley one to hug so that I stay sleeping on my side.  It works really well.  And most nights my husband gets jealous that I'm hugging the pillow instead of him, lol.  It's such a comfy pillow!  :)

  • I am 23 weeks today and have been using the Snoogle since 11 weeks upon  the recommendation of a friend. I couldn't live without it. It curves around your body in a circle and supports all the right spots. When traveling I do use two extra pillows for support but personally it is just not as comfortable to me. It's all what works for you :) Best of luck.
  • I use a regular body pillow. I got it around the start of 2nd tri (I think) when I first started being slightly uncomfortable and it made such a difference! I slept amazingly well for a little while.

But, yes, I said just a little while. I'm cranky about sleep right now because my hips hurt so bad that nothing helps. I hope the body pillow helps you!

Seriously and then there's this piece that comes up between your legs from the back (or it can be from the front if you prefer it that way), it was just weird.  I had to return it.

  • I purchased mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond for about $30 and still use it :) Can't remember the name :(

  • Thanks ladies. Sounds like a regular body pillow helped most of you out.  I'll start with one of those... and maybe buy Dh one too; it may prevent any stealing in the middle of the night.  LOL

  • Glad I read all these replies. I think I'm going to have a major problem. Oh goodness! I toss and turn because I can't get comfortable. I typically sleep on my back or stomach and well as you know that won't last for long. Keeping me on my side all night is nearly impossible so I may have to purchase a body pillow and block my back in from flipping over at night. Not what I find comfortable.
  • It is so strange... before pg, I used to sleep just fine on my side, rarely on my stomach or back. Now that I can't do the latter, I find myself doing them more and more!  If I lay on my belly too long, I wake up out of breath... poor babies!

Hope this body pillow solves our problems!

  • I used a king size pillow we already had on our bed and still use it often. i bought a special body pillow...and it was microfiber and it made me sweat...so make sure if you go that route you pay attention to the fabric

    :)

Thanks for the heads up!  That is another thing I have been struggling with... night sweats.  DH and I are now arguing about A/C temps and fan.  Last night I woke up at least 4x sweating, and at the end I had to put the fan full blast.  I just made sure DH was well covered.  LOL  After a while I did turn it down, but having it full blast w/out sheets was so awesome!  : )

I returned mine too for the same reason!  I ended up using a $10 one from Target.  It's flat as a pancake now but it worked while I was pg!
