I was so excited about my Dr. appt. today, my Dr. does an ultrasound each appointment and last month he said we could find out what we're having at this appointment...well the baby did not want to show it's goods. The Dr. tried for about 15 minutes. Oh well, the baby was perfectly healthy, which is all that truly matters. I just have no patience!

Re: Bummer Dr. appt, but healthy baby
This.
My thoughts exactly.
Jealous! You get an ultrasound every appointment? I would love to get just one more...
I had one at 19 weeks and again at 21 weeks because tech did not get all the measurements the first time. BOTH times the baby had his/her legs crossed! I was so happy my baby was healthy, but it would be nice to get another ultrasound to try and discover gender.
Docs says unless they think something is wrong I probably won'tt get another one. So unless I choose to pay for one (3D or otherwise) I'm not going to find out the gender at all! I'm not really pleased with this office policy.
Stop being logical, POF.
I had a confirmation U/S at my first OB appointment. I had bleeding and sever cramps, and had a second one at 11-13 weeks, I can't remember anymore which it was... That was when we lost one of the twins. I had my actual anatomy U/S this week. I wasn't going to ask about the sex, but DH wanted to know, and we just found out yesterday.
The bonus to the fact that ours never stops moving is that they had plenty of attempts to get a shot for determining sex. Also at 25 weeks, it's not a guess of any variety. I was told by someone MIL knows who works OB at the hospital, never to take anything before 18 weeks as a final answer on sex.
You'll have a better idea at your next appointment when you'll be far enough along that they should be 100% certain anyhow. Better than getting a "I'm pretty, almost sure it might be a girl or a boy" kind of answer some people I know have gotten.
Are you high risk? What is the purpose of an u/s every visit? Just curious...as controversial as unneeded/unnecessary u/s is in relation to baby's health.
