1st Trimester

I can't remember my first Pregnancy so I don't know whats normal.

My son is 4 years old and I can't remember my pregnancy with him, and I was pregnant a little over a year ago and sadly I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks.

On Tuesday I found out we were expecting, and my gyno was concerned because of my HCG Levels it was at 431 so he sent me again yesterday for the test and it went up in 48 hours to 967, which they said was good. (with my first and 2nd pregnancy they never mentioned HCG Levels).

I have been constipated for a few days and my lower back hurts but I've discovered that when I do use the washroom the back pain goes away, also when I need to go pee I get Period Like Cramps in my lower belly!!  But today I've been having the period like cramps more, is this normal (I've been assuming it is because theres a baby growing)  I am only about 3-4 weeks pregnant.

  • Your symptoms sound like mine were at that time.  I had the period-like cramps until about 6 weeks.  I think it was just the baby burrowing in.

I also had a little nausea- no vomiting, but it was a little annoying.

Since this is not your first pregnancy, you'll probably start showing sooner.

  • Oh yes, cramps are quite normal and may continue throughout the entire PG.  I've been having them since I ovulated this time.....

  • I don't really remember my DD's pg either.  I've had two miscarriages since, but I was so sick that I don't have much recollection of them either.  It's like this is all new again.

  • I'm totally in the same boat. My son is 8 and I don't remember cramping; but I'm having a lot of it.

It is a little concerning because I wondered if maybe that meant I was losing the baby. Being in my 30's now I'm a little worried about that.

I've noticed that eating small meals relatively often throughout the day, instead of three regular meals, helps... so maybe its a digestive thing.
  • I had bad back pain with my daughter, and I have already started with this pregnancy.  I do have some cramping on and off which my dr. attributed it to implantation...My back is killing though....so you aren't alone.  Supposedly cramping and backpain are very normal...if you get doubled over in pain from your abdomen that does warrant a call to your dr. though...but from what you are describing it sounds normal :)
