3D U/S are they worth it??

DH and I are thinking about getting this done.  I have found a place that does it for a great price and, has also been recommended as a place to get it done.  Just wondering what your thoughts are on it??  Did you love it??  Was it worth it???  Would you do it again??

Re: 3D U/S are they worth it??

  • We weren't going to do it, but when we went for a level II ultrasound they took a few images at the end in 3D and it was AMAZING!! If it's for a good price at a reputable place, i'd go for it!

  • We are still on the fence about it but I haven't spoken to anyone who DID get it and didn't love every minute of it...I'm almost half tempted to do it just so I can see her again and make sure all is well! =)

  • I did it with our first and we are doing them again. We did it on a lark and loved the DvD and color shots I say go for it. We are going back again at about 30 weeks

  • We did one at 18 weeks to determine the sex and for the bonding of it. We REALLY loved it, but we found out the sex and it wasn't a financial hardship. We're going to do another one later to see his face better. I think if you can afford it, it was definitely worth it! So great!
  • I didn't do it - the pics creep me out personally. But I did have a number of ultrasounds for different potential problems I had so I still got to see baby and hear heartbeat, etc.
  • My doctor's office does them free if you've made all your payments (I guess like a reward). Anyway, it was neat last time around, but I wouldn't pay for it.
  • We did it at 26 weeks and it was amazing!!  Our 20 week u/s was great but it wasn't a 3D u/s. So we went to a local place at 26 weeks and confirmed it was a girl again and spent 30 minutes watching her move around! I loved it so much!! We will definitely be doing that again this time!

  • I went to the one for my brother's baby and it was awesome, the cool thing was you could have up to 15 people come to it so he invited me, his wife's sister and both grandmas it was such a neat experience especially for the grandmas who didn't have anything like it when they were pregnant.

We are definitely doing it, plus it is so fun to see LO

  • OMG Yes!! We had it done with DS at 26 weeks and LOVED it!! It was like $150 and we got the 3D images on CD, some printed, and a 15 minute 4D video. It was great because we were able to bring 5 ppl total (aside from me of course), so my parents and in-laws were able to experience it also. I did have an anterior placenta so the images weren't as great as they would otherwise be, but they were still pretty good!

We're definitely going to do it again this pregnancy. I can't wait!!

  • My doctor said there was no medical reason to do it, and insurance will not cover it. (He likened it to going to Olan Mills for portraits or something).

My H and I think they're sort of creepy looking, so I'd never pay my own money to get one done if there's not a medical reason for having one.

  • I think so! I LOVED every minute of mine. I have a place by me that gives you two at different dates at a very good price. I have had one and go back at 32 weeks to see him again.

  • We weren't going to originally, but now I think we are seriously thinking about it.  A friend told us not to do it if we didn't want to know the sex, as it can be quite obvious.  But we ended up caving and finding out yesterday anyway!

  • DH and I did go to get a 3D done at a local place at about 22/23 weeks. When we got there the woman was WONDERFUL! It was such a relaxing experience compared to the awful 20 week u/s we had another office. There was no medical reason for the 3D but at our 20 week and u/s tech was AWFUL and RUDE so she did not tell us much of anything and I was dying to know what we were having!!!

In the beginning, the 3D images freaked me out, but once I got in there and saw my LO moving around and the facial features that looked exactly like mine, I would have paid three times the amount to have that moment! Not to mention we got 3D pics, thermal pics, a cd with everything on it, a DVD of the entire thing, and a picture frame with LOs heartbeat recorded on it! We got in on a "Father's Day Special" so all that for $60.... I'll do it again with the next one for sure! GL!

  • My OB office has it so we've gotten 3D pictures with our last two ultrasounds. I love them, they are very worth getting. BUT my friends OB doesn't have this so they went to a place about an hour away from us to get it done and costs them a couple hundred. We compared pictures and the quality of ours is so much better. Hers are blurry and poor quality. So I would defiantly do research and make sure the place has good equipment.
