I've got 3 pages worth of questions for the poor unexpecting man tonight. He's probably thinking oh great. just what I need. Another BSC control freak mom.
when we did our interview, we asked a ton of questions and one of the last things they said to us was "never, ever hesitate to ask questions and/or call the nurses line. remember, they have kids to put through college, too. if they're mean about it, you tell your doctor."
we've had an amazing experience with them thus far.
I'm probably totally going to get flamed for this, but where are you ladies coming up with questions? There are a few that I can think of off hand, and perhaps when we really start looking I'll think of more, but I'm just stumped as to what kinds of things I should be asking about. I feel like I'm doing pretty good learning about the pregnancy, but I need to bone up on baby care apparently.

We had a weird health care situation last time so I never interviewed and believe me I paid dearly for every question I didn't ask.Don't feel bad AT ALL, we're talking about your baby's well being. Nothing is more important.
Eventually I found a ped I LOVE and they are super nice about every thing - even when I called for an "emergency" appointment yesterday for severe ear infection...that turned out just to be normal teething. Sheesh, you'd think I'd know better by now.

No flames at all. We're not born knowing these things and it's good that you're interested in what to ask. I think it varies from person to person though but for example a big thing for me is a delayed vaccination schedule and someone who is very supposrtive of EBF. I think that if they pedi wasn't onboard 100% for both he wouldn't be the one for me.
I'm asking him about his thoughts on child rearing as well (such a bottle feeding, co-sleeping, getting babies to sleep, childhood obesity) I want to make sure we see eye to eye on things.

I honestly don't see what your pedi's child rearing philosophies have to do with them being a good doctor.

I think it's pretty important to have a doctor who will help troubleshoot breastfeeding problems and help you go the extra mile with it instead of encouraging formula supplementing right off the bat.

philosophies regarding feeding and health are not child rearing philosophies. I agree it's important to have a doctor who supports bf'ing. Ours is wonderful. What I'm talking about is stuff like cosleeping, bottle feeding, paci use etc. It makes no difference what your pedi thinks about these things.
Re: I am every pediatricians worst nightmare...
if it seems like he does - find another pedi.
