We bought AFG Athena in "Alice" in Pecan last week Monday at a local baby furniture store. (Lori, I got the same brand as your Daphne!) We happened to be there on the last day of a month-long sale and scored a great price, IMO! I can't wait for it to arrive in 4-6 weeks! The crib will go in our bedroom right next to or near the foot of our bed. We'll have to work out the space issues once it actually arrives. It will be cozy, to say the least.
AFG Athena is a competitor of MDB/DaVinci. The "Alice" (which also happens to be my paternal grandmother's name) is nearly identical to the "Kalani". My color preferences? White, Espresso, Cherry, and Pecan, in that exact order. The manufacturer only makes the "Alice" in Pecan, which is why we ended up with that finish. I have to admit it's growing in me, though. Here are some photos.
This is from their website. The color is a little off, but you can see the style is very similar to the Kalani, with the exception of the feet:
This is how the "Alice" in pecan looked in the store:
I found that Snoopy bedding I wanted locally, but don't think I'm willing to pay the $200 price tag for it, especially in light of our changing financial situation. Instead, I'm thinking of just buying the crib sheet and a separate coordinating dust ruffle from Target. Through the magic of Photoshop, I think it might work:
Brian is concerned that this baby will be overrun by Snoopy things so I found this sports-themed sheet from Target that would also work with the dust ruffle (both Tiddliwinks brand):
I like the idea of doing a vinyl wall decal above the crib and found this on ebay. It's from a UK seller and would cost about $30! This is on the nice-to-have-but-not-necessary list. And I would get it in white or black, not hot pink.
Oh, and just one more Snoopy bonus item...I found these on Etsy and thought they were hilarious! Baby Snoopy breast pads!!!
Re: AW: We bought a crib (and bedding update)!
Love the crib and the snoppy stuff:-)
I really want it! Our bedroom walls are already painted a light blue color, but they're textured walls. I wonder how a decal would look on textured drywall, or if it would even stick. I'd better ask the seller. Just curious.

Nice crib and bedding!!
I'm not sure how well the decal would stick to a textured wall. Are you crafty? Maybe you could trace it onto your wall and paint it yourself?

i love the crib and actually like that color even though it was your least fav.
i never got to answer your Q the other day about bumpers.... we've had our in place and still do....when she was younger she was a lump and didn't move so the risk of SIDS was 0%....now that she is older and moving the risk for SIDS is dramatically lower (highest risk is 2-3 months of age) and i feel comfortable w/leaving them there b/c she has great head control and can move her head any which way she wants so i really don't think she could suffocate herself on it....she's fallen asleep close to it but when i come up and look her nose always keeps her face a small distance from the bumper to where her airway is totally clear. so just FYI
oh and those breast pads are sooooooooo cute!!!
