2nd Trimester

I finally got my U/S

When I went to my last appointment, the U/S tech wasn't there that day, and he told me that I would have to wait till my next appointment, which is in July, and would be in my 3rd trimester.  Yesterday at about 5, his office calls me and tells me if I can be there at 8am, there would be a tech there, and someone canceled.  I said I could make it, and got to finally get to having it done.

I was kind of excited, and forgot that the doctor told me that I was supposed to tell her if I didn't want to know the sex before we started.  For some reason, I though she was going to ask, but she didn't.  She had DH come in, and said almost as soon as he walked in: "congratulations on your son." I know DH wanted a girl, but he was happy with a boy, as he wanted one of them as well as to "carry on the name."

We had been arguing a bit on if we wanted to know or not, but I guess this answered it for me.  I really can't be upset with her, as I didn't say anything, and I don't want to spaz out on an older lady.  I'm not that kind of person.  DH had his Droid out and had texted all his family and my parents, and was going to Face Book it as soon as we were out of the office.  Guess everyone knows now.  When she gave us the pictures, about 20 of them, one of the first ones was a close up of the baby's penis with "it's a boy" on it.  So yeah, 100% sure it's a boy, but that tends to be the case at ~25 weeks.

I did get scolded for not having my U/S till now.  I guess she usually does them 17-18 weeks, and if we had waited till 28-29 weeks that he wanted to, the baby would be rather big for her to get all the shots she needed.  As is, he was a pretty good size, but he's measuring exactly on, and I'll still have to do my GD test, but she told me not to worry too much, he'd be measuring bigger and not spot on at this point if I had it.  He also did not want to sit still, and I didn't eat anything this morning.  Guess this was the case for DH as well, he was rather active.  It took longer than normal to get it all done because he didn't want to be still for heart pictures.  She told me everything looked good, but she had to send everything to my doctor to look at, and he'd tell me if we had any problems.

I feel better now.  Not nervous that something's wrong.  I really did feel like that was the case, and why I wasn't getting to having it done.  It just seems that the U/S techs seem to be sick or in a different office every day I have my monthly appointment.
