Let us know how you are doing. If you have any questions for the group to answer, feel free to ask.
QOTW: Question from 2010weddinggal: My periods have been 3-4 weeks long with heavy bleeding and many large clots. the dr did the d&c and the only thing that came up in pathology was hormone imbalance and cyst on ovaries. Has anyone else gone through that?
Re: ~*~*~ PCOS Check-In ~*~*~ SAIFW
Today is CD 10 for me, doing for follicle scan tomorrow. I have done clomid 50mg cd 3-9 & bravelle 1 vial cd 6-10.
QOTD: I have no experience with periods lasting that long. I do have clots but relate that to the meds & also having MTHFR.
Today is CD3. We have decided not to pursue anymore IUI's and go for an IVF consult. We go June 25th. We are going to do 100mg of Clomid & TI just so I feel like we are trying to do something this month.
OTD: Sorry I dont have any advice.
QOTD :when i was younger (middle school) all of my cycles were like that but they were only about 2 weeks of bleeding - but the whole 2 weeks were hell. i was in so much pain, vomiting everywhere, had to wear 2 pads at a tiem and always sit on a towel. couldn't go to school the first several days of my period. and then in hs it NEVER went away!!! they let me bleed for months, couldn't find anything wrong - put me on the pill and i had been on it up until i went to TTC. Now i NEVER get a period on my own at all.
PCOS is a furstrating beast!!! I hope you get some relief and answers soon!!!
UPDATE - i'm on bc for late july IVF#3
Tara & Dave - TTC since September 2006
PCOS - dx 1999 (amenorrhea) | freakishly long fallopian tubes
Hypoglycemic | thyroid issues | severely anemic
Multiple Clomid cycles of 50, 100, 150 - absolutely no response
Follistim 50/100 | Follistim 75/125 | Follistim 100/150 IUI - all BFNs
Converted IVF - BFP - m/c | FET - BFN | IVF #2 = BFN
IVF #3
I FINALLY have an update! I am cd5 on my first cycle with femera. No idea how I will respond but I am optimistic.
QOTD: no experience with this. My periods are always really really short actually.
After two losses, third time was a charm.
pm me for blog link
I'd like to rejoin the group. I posted on it for quite a while. After doing an IUI, I got my BFP. Unfortunatly, it was ectopic. I won't be ttc again until the end of July now. On top of PCOS, I have been diagnosed with endometeosis.....and DH has low sperm count.
QOTD: I don't have experience with this, as I didn't ever have period without intervention.
ETA: I have been ttc since Sept '08
multiple failed cycles, multiple IUIs, lap with ovarian drilling 4/2008
Finally BFP on 11/23/09 beta#1=36 beta#2 =62 beta#3=139
Liliana was born on March 27,2010 at 21w5d due to infection and pre-term labor
BFP #2 on 6/20/10 after Gonal-F and TI First u/s showed Twins!
TTC#2 since 02/2012 with out RE...
Back to RE 08/2016----- Cycle #1 10/2016 Femara 7.5mg=???
Today is CD44 with no O in sight. I am supposed to go back to the doc if I am not pg by August and at this point, I am just waiting for that. I have no confidence that I will O.
QOTD: I haven't had any experience with this, sorry!
QOTW: I never have AF on my own. I also have clotting issues so I am not sure I will be much help.
Update: 1/2 way through the 2ww. It's going by so slow!!
QOTD: Sorry I can't help.
Update: B/w results showed I didn't O this cycle so my GYN referred me to an RE. I was able to get an appt for the 24th. I'm really excited and hopeful that he'll be able to set up a good plan for us!
Update: I am currently 10dpIUI but dont really have any hope for this cycle. I got my 7dpIUI pregesterone done and it was only 3.9. I also did an Ovidrel booster injection at 7dpIUI so I cant pee on a stick till 17dpIUI, AF should show up before then. Last two cycles she has been here on 12dpIUI so saturday perhaps.
QOTD: I used to have really long periods when i was young before i was on BCP but the Drs never cared or tested me for anything.... then again I would skip 4 months and they were fine with that too... IDIOTS.
Update: Today is CD 22. I go tomorrow for another u/s and b/w to see if I O'd. I've been really sick for the last week and a half, AND had EWCM yesterday, so I may have O'd late, or not at all. Oddly, not at all would be preferred right now because DH has been gone at the fire station since Monday morning and won't be home until Saturday morning. Stupid overtime!!!! I will be so mad if I O'd this week and we didn't even have a chance, since the study is only 5 cycles, and this is the 2nd one.
QOTW: no experience.

2/13/12 - We proudly welcomed our daughter, Hadley Teresa!
Lots of Luck to all of 3T/IF
Nothing new here.
QOTW: I haven't, sorry. I hope your dr is able to figure it out for you.
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice
Hope
QOTD: When I started my period it would last 2 weeks and I would be in horrible pain with large clots. A few months later it would last 7-9 days and I would still be in a lot of pain with big clots. I could go 3-6-9 months without a period and finally went on birth control when I was 16. My periods still lasted 7-9 days on the pill with heavy bleeding. The middle of last year I stopped getting any bleeding at all even while on birth control.
Update: Dh went for a semen analysis today and I had bloodwork done yesterday. Hopefully we will have results in a few days.
Update: Our perfect cycle was canceled last Friday when I was admitted to the hospital. Waiting to find out when we can cycle again...
QOTD: No experiences with that, I've always had normal periods.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I'm just waiting through the longest 2ww of my life.
QOTW: I don't have any input, that sounds awful.
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!
My pregnancy after Infertility Blog
Our baby girl was born on April 27, 2011!
I just got my "mystery pills" for the PCOS study on Tuesday! Today is CD 7, so not much going on right now. I met the doctor running the study in our area, he said based on my b/w & u/s results he feels there's a good chance the meds will help.
QOTW: I had a couple of periods like that. My GYN put me on Prometrium, 2-wks on, 2-wks off to "regulate". I did that for 3 months & haven't had any issues like that since.
Married 1/2/99.
TTC since 4/09.
Diagnosed PCOS. Diagnosed Hypothryoid 11/09.
SHG & SA normal. PCOS Research study started 5/10.
Clomid/Femara cycle #1 - 6/10 = BFN
Clomid/Femara cycle #2 - 7/10 = BFP #1 - Missed miscarriage 9/2/10
11/12 - BFP #2 - 11/22 - m/c
5/1/11 - BFP #3 - Pre-eclampsia, IUGR & bed rest from 32w. DD born via induction 1/4/12.
QOTW: I have been having nearly daily bleeding for a while that usually involved some very large clots. My RE said it was due to hormones. I've been on ER-met for a few months now and have stopped the daily bleeding.
My new home: http://tinyurl.com/6r4rrlm
Update: CD 35 for me. The day I'm supposed to call RE for Provera Script. I'm waiting until tomorrow. I'm giving her one last day to show. My chart says I'm 20-something dpo, but I've gotten all negative tests. So, I'm going to test in the morning before I call. Up next is 100 mg Clomid for CD2-9, another SA for DH and we'll see from there.
QOTW: Sorry. I don't ovulate, so I don't have periods. No experience to offer.

Update: Nothing, lol. Still on a break. It sucks.
QOTD: I had this happen twice. The first time is how we found that I had PCOS. That one was due to a pencil sized uterine polyp (sp?).

***My posts are always SAIFW**
Hi - I'm new to the boards. SO SO glad to find a PCOS community. I've already learned a ton from what I've read so far. I saw a post on Metformin and it made me feel so sane because I' d been struggling with nausea for months and it was a relief to see others went through that, too. So, thanks so much for organizing this.
TTC since March '09. Just did an ivf in May (bfn) and am doing my first FET June 18th.
QOTW: regular periods on the pill for a long time. Off the pill: no periods on my own.
Update on me: I am waiting on AF any day now. Nothing else new, still not ovulating with Metformin, waiting til January to start Femara.
QOTW: I have had that happen to me a couple times, randomly, throughout the years. The last time was this in May 2009. I honestly thought I could be having a m/c based on the heavy bleeding and size/amount of clots I was passing, it was awful. I went into the RE and he did an u/s and said that my lining wasn't shedding evenly, so it kept shedding to make everything even... he prescribed me Provera which I took and it forced a period (even though I was bleeding) which cleaned everything out. Since then I've been fine... that might be your issue too since it sounds so similar to mine, lasted 4 weeks of bleeding total. Yuck, I feel for you, I was so tired and drained that whole time.
Update: I had a doctor's appointment this week to discuss my PCOS Dx. We decided we would try a few months with no meds and then if nothing happens we'll start metformin.
QOTW: I don't have any experience with long periods, but this is my first cycle with serious clotting so I don't really have any advice, sorry.
edit: I just noticed I'm not on the list anymore. My name is Lauren and I've been TTC since March '10
I am unconfirmed, but highly suspected.
I will have bloodwork drawn as soon as I get to CD3 to confirm.
TTC since 6/2010. (This is 1st cycle)
Update: I had my second follie check with this cycle of Clomid (150mg) on Wednesday. There was no response. My RE gave me the option of starting injectables that night. I took it. So I started with 35iu of Puregon (FSH) and go back for a check on Saturday. I am so excited, I feel like I have a real shot at ovulation, and that means we have a shot at getting pg!
QOTW: I'm sorry, but I've never had a period last that long before.
Diagnosed with PCOS March '10 - Started 1000mg of Metformin

After 3 unsuccessful Clomid cycles, FSH+Ovidril+IUI+Progesterone=BFP!
Time to make Emilie a big sister!
May '16 2.0: Letrozole+FSH+Menopur+Ovidril+IUI+Progesterone=BFP! first beta-45.44, second beta-148
Update: We did our first IUI and it was negative. Boo. So I am currently on Femara again. CD7 and doing IUI #2 next week. Fingers crossed!!
QOTW: I never have had a period last that long!! you poor thing!
If you haven't checked in within the past month, the list gets cleaned up. It would be out of control with gals not checking in past their introduction and I was tired of it.
It turns out I had a c/p with an ovulation that happened all on my own. I had taken this past cycle off from meds and charting and after getting over a cold was still feeling funny so I tested and got a faint +. Beta came back as 10, but I was bleeding by Tuesday night. After two nonresponsive cycles of femara (after a year of it working nicely), I was NOT expecting any of that.
I have my Lap next Friday and then I will get back to charting on my own from there. We started our Foster Care training classes this week also, so that is exciting.

Update: AF finally showed and so I went in for CD 3 u/s and bw and they found a gigantic cyst about 3 inches in diameter. Excellent. So now I am on BCPs and going back in 2 weeks for a check up, as long as it's gone, then I'll be onto injects for next cycle. Wish me luck
QOTD: I have no experience with that, I'm sorry.

I'd like to join if I can. I was diagnosed with PCOS after experiencing infertility during my first marriage.
I just got married to the Right Guy on May 22nd. Since February I've been changing my life - diet and exercise are now just a part of my daily routine. I take supplements to try and deal with some of the hormonal stuff as well as just keep me healthy. I have lost 36 pounds since February and am now gluten free and dairy free. I feel the best I've felt in years.
I just stopped taking the pill to try and see if my life changes have impacted my cycle and my overall "female health".
On top of the PCOS, my husband had a vasectomy during his first marriage. So we have lots up against us in the baby making realm of things, but hopefully we can figure out the right path for us.
QOTD- I too have lots of clots and I've had some periods last almost 2 weeks. In my case, it may be my body detoxing some of the extra estrogen I have in my body. Some of the supplements I take are meant to do this.
Married my amazing husband May 22, 2010
Became Step-Mom to 2 boys.
Husband had vasectomy in 2004 during first marriage.
Adoption Is Our Path!
Application sent March 29, 2011 First Meeting with CW: April 25, 2011 Final Visit and home visit: August 16, 2011
September, 2011 - told we are ready to be considered by birth parents. Officially WAITING!
Spring of 2012, we start to work with a Consultant and apply with a few agencies around the US
June 2012 - we are MATCHED
July 25, 2012 - Our SON was born in Arizona
August 8th, 2012 - we flew home with our baby
Awaiting Finalization

I keep having ovulation pain...wondering if that is because I have a cyst or because I'm gearing up to ovulate (I usually don't ovulate this early in my cycle unless drug-induced).
QOTD: I haven't had any experience with long periods....mine are usually 5-8 days long. Pre-PG I did have clots in my period. However, this last period (after the D&C), it was virtually clot free. I don't know if that was because it was the first period after loss, or if it is because I'm now treating my MTHFR.
Either way, a two week period sounds in no way normal. Maybe a dr second opinion could help?
BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
Hi! I think I got removed from the check in list. Could I please be added again?
I am just waiting. I didn't respond to prometrium, at all, and I have an appointment tomorrow with my RE to talk about it. I'm waiting to start a medicated Femara +Ovidrel cycle. We'll see what happens
QOTW: This happened to me once. I started bleeding on the day of a really stressful event in my life and it didn't stop. I bled extremely heavily for 17 days without stopping. There were huge clots. I asked the doctor to prescribe me birth control to make it stop. It stopped for like 4 days and then was full force again. The OB was NO help at all. When I finally decided to stop taking the BCP it finally stopped. It was a realy awful experience. I'm so sorry. But, to give you hope, it never happened again.
If you haven't checked in within the past month, the list gets cleaned up. It would be out of control with gals not checking in past their introduction and I was tired of it. I will get you back on.

update: Just waiting for either O or AF
Doctor wants me back in the office in August if I have not had a period since May. 2000mg Metformin daily is getting better, but the first couple weeks were HARD! Working on losing weight & am down 15 lbs!
QOTW: Not any help...sorry!!
update: finally had a period. so no pregnancy luck last cycle, but I may have ovulated, which is good. Trying to cut out simple carbs in my diet to see if that speeds up ovulation at all.
QOTD: sorry, I have not experienced that. the closest I've had was about 12 days of LIGHT spotting after an annovulatory cycle. Sorry you are going through that-- hope the doctors can help you out!
