  • Sounds like a yeast infection to me. Yuck, I hate them! Never had them until I was pg with my daughter 12 years ago and haven't had one since. But when I was pg with her I had like 3 or 4. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you, or me this time around! My Dr had my do otc stuff, but that was like 12 years ago...who knows what they say now.

  • in my opinion, thick and clumpy discharge warrants a call to the dr.
  • sounds like a YI to me too, keep in mind not all women experience smells or itchyness, I know in a previous pg I had no idea I had one until my internal.

    This

  • I would just talk to them in person because they will need to culture it to know for sure.  You can use Vagisil cream in the meantime.  Mine has had me use OTC meds and this past time (my first YI with this pregnancy, but my 2309th in my life probably), I just got a prescription.  I get chronic yeast infections while pregnant.  It sucks.  At one point with DD, I bled because of the itching and was given prescription pain meds for it.
  • Ugh the yeast beast!  I never had one until I was pg with Grace..  I had no idea what it was.  They said you are more likely to get them in pg for some odd reason..  My dr put me on Monistat, said it was safe the 7 day kind.  But I never had the white discharge you talk about, I just had excess watery discharge...

Its because with the extra hormones, your body is literally "sweeter" and more conducive to overgrowth of yeast and bacteria.
