Photogs: Camera help

So I think I've decided I want a DSLR.  I *really* don't need anything special as I will be a total beginner, but I don't want to waste money on something that I'll outgrow fast or that is obsolete already.  What camera would you get if you were me?

I don't want to spend more than $1,000, but if I could get something decent for less than that it would be great.  I know there is a Canon Rebel at Target for like $500 but I don't know anything about it.

Re: Photogs: Camera help

  • We bought a Canon Rebel about 4 years ago and really like it, although I have to admit I don't know much about it or use many of the settings.

  • Funny you should mention this because I am saving for a Rebel right now!

I spoke to two different photogs about it (one being Morgan!) and they both said to start out with the 10 Megapixel Rebel and upgrade to the 28-135mm lens because the kit lens is ok but not spectacular.

    HTH!

I just bought the Rebel and really like it.  It takes good pictures, but I too am a beginner and am still learning about all the functions.

Thanks for the lens comment!  I want to get a new one and wasn't sure what to go with.
