1st Trimester

2nd time Mommys

What do you look forward the most in the birth process this go around?

Personally, I just was so in awe of the process last time-- I just cannot wait to do it again.  It's the most amazing moment meeting the baby for the first time!  I seriously can't wait!

Mom of 3 year old, one year old and one on the way (due late Summer 2013).

Re: 2nd time Mommys

  • Hopefully if all goes well, this will be baby #3 for us. And there is NOTHING like seeing your new little one for the first time. Seeing my boys for the first time was something I know I'll never forget! And I saw a side of my H that really touched me during both births. I'm soooo looking forward to meeting this LO.

  • I am in a debate of VBAC vs Scheduled C Section...but overall I am looking forward to the first cry!  As for the process, I will look forward to either a vaginal birth or being calmer for the C-section.

  • I hope to just be able to see my son and not have to wait over 3 days.

My son was a preemie and I had severe pre-e. He had to be taken by ambulance to another hospital that had a nicu. We were seperated for 3 horrible long days. The feelings of that sadness was/is still so unreal. I remember crying out so loud the nurses had to come in and check on me.

I would love to have one of those normal births where you get to hold you baby right after and stare into their eyes.

  • Honestly, the actual birth process is what stresses me at this point.  I need to decide on a repeat C-section or try for VBAC.  Once that ordeal is over, it'll just be amazing to have another baby in my arms, and also to watch DS start to actually understand what "I'm a big brother" means.  (Yes, this baby is permanent. Ha.)

  • I'm actually excited for my repeat c/s this time around. I'll know what to expect so I won't be as nervous then I'll be able to relax a little and just enjoy the process.
  • I will definitely be looking forward to being able to spend the time in the hospital WITH my baby. I spent most of my "recovery" from the c section going up and down to the NICU and my room. I didn't get to have any relaxing time with her and my DH in our room. I pray nothing goes wrong this time and we'll just get to be together in the room until its time to go home.

  • This time, I hope to really focus on cherishing the being pregnant part more than last time.  With DS, I was so excited to meet him (and am obvsiously excited to meet this one too) that I hoped the pregnancy would go fast and didn't really take the time to realize how awesome it was.  I also was so anxious the last month that I complained for the last 3 weeks about how I wish I wasn't pregnant anymore.  Since this will probably be the last baby for us, I really hope to cherish every second that I get to be pregnant with this baby.

  • I'm looking forward to knowing what to expect.  I was so so so nervous about everything last time and this time I'll know it's normal and that it's OK.
  • I had a very complicated delivery with DS...He was very big and got stuck in the birth canal, they had to use a vacuum to get him out and then told me I should of had a c-section...so this time around I think I am opting for a C-section. DS didn't breath for 1.5 min after he was born and ended up in the NICU with sepsis cause he asperated marconium into his lungs when he went to take his first breath...thankfully we got to bring him home a few days later but it was a terrible feeling having my baby taken from me and worked on right in front of my eyes to get him breathing again. I had a 4th degree tear on top of everything and was given a much higher dose of the Epi then I should of had so I was shaking uncontrollably for 2 hours until the meds wore off.

This time I am praying things go much more smoothly...I ahve switched OBs and plan on delivering at a different hospital.

  • For it to be over. I dislike pregnancy. I love the end result. Can't wait to meet this LO.

  • I hope for a VBAC this time, but the thing I'm most excited about is to see how this LO looks like compared to DS.  Will they look similar?  Will they look completely different?  The anticipation is enough to drive me crazy.

  • I'm just happy I know what to expect this time around!  I want to enjoy every minute of it because once #2 is born I think I will be so exhausted... having two LO's under the age of 2!

Ditto x100000. I'm already counting down the weeks.

  • I can't wait to experience the delivery of my second child. My DD was induced at 39 weeks due to low amniotic fluid. 24 hours after the pitocin was started she was delivered by cesarean due to infection and heart rate. Because I had a cesarean with DD, we will schedule another for our LO. I will be able to be much more alert. I am definitely looking forward to that.
  • Well last time I ended up with a c/sec for fetal distress.  This time I look forward to a VBAC and getting to push my baby out and actually see him or her right away.
  • Seeing/holding my LO for the first time.

#1 - Emergency c/s after 24+ hours of labor and I was put under and didn't meet DS until 4 hours later.

#2 - Delivered 5 weeks early via c/s and DD was wisked to the NICU and I didn't get to hold her until the next day.

    #3 - Hoping to see/hold LO asap :)

  • Hoping for a VBAC - had an induction at 42 weeks with DS and never even really felt a contraction before he moved off to the side and they gave me a c/s.  Looking forward to hopefully experiencing birth and being able to be with my LO and hold him/her right away rather than waiting in recovery. Also just looking forward to holding my own tiny baby and just feeling that love again with #2.

  • Same as OP. The photographer that does our family shots each year also does a Life Documentation package where she comes to the hospital and takes black and white shots of the birth and first couple hours with the family. They are just beautiful. I would love to do that this time but I have to get prices.

I'm just so excited for the whole process again. I like being pregnant and giving birth can be scary at times but I find it fun and exciting as well.

  • I am really looking forward to hopefully being able to breastfeed.  I had an absolute horrible experience last time.  Everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong and I finally gave up when DS was 2 months.  I'm hoping that it'll actually work out this time.  That, and also, I'm hoping to have a VBAC.

Me too!  I had to have an emergency c section and I didn't get to see my son at all until about an hour and a half after he was born.  All I got was to hear his cry.  They didn't even hold him up for me to see.

  • I look forward to the snuggly-ness of a newborn! When they just curl up on you and sleep there forever! DS is super snuggly, but it's not quite the same.

  • I juat pray we have two bundles to meet. I am so excited. It is an incredable feeling when you look at your baby for the first time...

I just hope we don't have 2 preemies. DD was 6 weeks premature and that was very scary for us.
