Success after IF

my parents driving me NUTS!

so never did i think i'd tell my family about a pregnancy this early. but when we were going thru IVF i wound up telling them b/c it was taking over my life and i usually talk to them on a daily basis anyway so it was pretty obvious something was going on with me.

flash forward that i'm pregnant now and i've been sufering with OHSS. unfortunately b/c i wound up getting it drained yet again they knew what was going on b/c i wasn't at work, etc. now they call me multiple times a day saying "hows your fluid doing?"  UM-IF THEY SAY 'FLUID' TO ME ONE MORE TIME i will SCREAM!  seriously--the word fluid is really grossing me out and i do not need my parents reminding me of it 4x a day. finally i just said "until further notice it is still there and i don't feel great--i promise i will let you know when i do"

SCREAM! arg. vent over :) i know i should just be happy my parents care so much......but seriously....no more 'fluid' talk! :)

Re: my parents driving me NUTS!

  • I'm so sorry about the OHSS.

As far as your parents, if that happened to me I could totally see my mom doing the same thing.

Hang in there, I hope you feel better soon.

  • Oh, gosh!  Is it mean to laugh a little?  Just a little?  Because I chortled a bit.  I can only imagine how it feels to have someone constantly ask about your f-word.

Soon, you'll be back to normal and they can start asking about the baby.  That'll be much nicer, I'm sure.

    Feel better soon!

  • I'm so sorry you are dealing with that nasty OHSS. And you are so funny about the "f" word...for me, for some reason going thru all the infertility led me to cringe at the word "follie"...why? I have no idea, it's not even cringe-worthy.

Oh and my mother calls at least twice a day and it's usually about nothing. If I screen her calls, she'll keep calling and leaving messages until I call back. Oh, it kills me and since I'm not a phone-lover, it really kills me. I can't get it thru her head that I talk on the phone only when I have to. She thinks I'm constantly avoiding her. Hang in there, hon!

  • Omg....speaking of...she just called AGAIN!!!!!! I just had to screen. I know I'm so mean.
  • I had OHSS too! Are you constipated? I had HORRIBLE constipation because my bowel was blocked and I had the all day calls asking if I "was able to go yet." I remember the frustration! LOL

Congratulations to you! I hope you get some relief soon!

  • yes-of course you can laugh! my sister and i were just b*tching about it and laughing our butts off b/c the 'f' word is driving us both nuts. my mom just called HER and said "how is your sisters fluid?" hahahaha. ridiculous!

    thanks ladies :)

  • Ugh, that would be annoying!  During our first IVF, we told everyone what was going on.  But I was so sick of getting 18 calls a day asking about my follicles!  So, the second time around, we told everyone we were taking a break.  Sorry your parents won't stop using the f-word!  And it is hysterical that your mom asked your sister!

  • I totally feel your pain, not your OHSS pain, but the over-involved parents pain.  I had to read your post b/c I just got off the phone with my parents (of course they BOTH have to talk to me) and my dad starts rattling off things that I "shouldn't do".  I know it's out of love but it bugs!  I'm 33, pretty sure I can figure these things out on my own!

I hope your "f" problem goes away sooner rather than later so you can put that word to bed.  Can you tell them a little "story" like, "the Dr's say they can't believe how well everything is recovering and I'm cured!" just so they stop worrying/asking.
