Hi! I've lurked for a while, but wanted to say, my girl has one on her side, in the shape of a smiley face.
I had a large one on my shoulder growing up. It was about the size of a quarter and bright red for a long time. I don't remember exactly when it faded (sometime in high school), but you can't see it any more and people don't even notice it unless I point it out. It never hurt or anything.
My baby has a large one kind of behind his armpit. It is about the diameter of two loonies, and really raised. It was shocking to see it grow from a little mark to what it is now. It doesn't bother him, and the dr. said it was ok, but we are taking him to a pedi. to have it checked out again.
DD has one on her head. You can't really see it unless you look really close because of her hair. It started out as just a little red spot when she was born and then got a little bigger. It's not too big, maybe the size of the tip of your pinky. The Dr. said just to keep an eye on it but it should be fine. He also said that it could get worse looking before it gets better. I actually noticed it not as raised as it was. Hopefully that is a good sign. He said that it could take up to a year to go away or in some cases it might take longer... we will see!
DD has one on her side in the shape of a heart. We call it her heart tattoo. It's especially funny because she was due on Valentine's Day. Dr. said it would most likely go away on it's own but truth be told, I kind of love it.
My LO has one on her head, and it's not covered by her hair so it's very visible. It looks like it's progressing normally, but we do have an appt with a dermatologist in July just to make sure. I can't stand how people have no filter when it comes to asking about it though. Small kids I can understand, but when an adult looks at me like I let my DD bash her head off of something and ask what happened to her it drives me nuts! Or when they think my dog did it (I am very protective of her) sends me up a wall! I just don't want her to have a complex about it if it takes a few years to go away because other people are dumb.
My Dd has one on her arm and one that is hidden by her hair. I was really worried till her pedi explained what it was and that it will get bigger till she is one and then it will fade. They only worry if it's on LO face close to their eyes or mouth then they would undergo laser treatment!
Re: Hemangioma... who's LOs have one?

DS has one on his arm. Pedi said it would fade over time and probably be gone by the time he enters kindergarten.
People are always asking, "what happened to his arm!?" and it drives me crazy.
