Baby Names

Names to go with Eleanor

I know I'm only in 1st tri, but of course I'm already thinking of names.  DD's name is Eleanor Scout.  A lot of people do not like her name, and we know it, but that's ok.  DH and I LOVE it!  We still have our list of boy names from the first time around, and they are Samuel, August, and Benjamin.  We're lost as far as girl's names go.  We like classic names that aren't too popular.  Any suggestions for either sex?

Oh, and the middle name will most likely be Jude whether it's a boy or a girl after my mom, Judy.

TIA!

    Rigby?

I was going to say the same thing!!!!

To answer OP's question.  I like Catherine, Ruby, Grace, Deanna, Sophie, Elisa.  But just go with a name you like, I don't really get this whole "sibling names have to go together" thing.  As long as it isn't wildly different in style from Eleanor pretty much any name will work.

  • Girls: Harriet, Alice, Stella, Ruby, Josephine, Cora, Ivy, Hazel, Lydia, Dorothy, Helen, Adelaide, Virginia, Genevieve, Camilla, Marjorie, Jane

Boys: Henry, Oliver, Edward, Thomas, Timothy, Adam

  • My niece is Eleanor, and her sisters are Abigail (Abby) and Caroline (still baking, so I'm not sure  what her nn will be until she arrives).

I always thought Eleanor and Abigail went nicely together.

  • My favorites are Juliet, Cecilia, Nadia, Corinna, Lucy, Tessa, Camille, Adele, and Kathleen.

  • I love Eleanor and would have used it myself if we hadn't already picked Evelyn (didn't want two "E" names).  Anyway, my suggestions for old-fashioned, not-as-common names;

Camille, Corinne, Iris, Penelope, Rosalie, Rosemary, Millicent, Clara, Greta, Cecilia, Clementine, Eliza, Genevieve, Vivian, Lydia, Josephine, Virginia

  • Some classic, but not too popular, girl names I love are:

    Eliza
    Evelyn
    Julianna
    Greta
    Clara
    Lauren
    Vivienne
    Jillian
    Charlotte
    Evelyn
    Julia
    Gwyneth/Gwen

I love August and Benjamin from your boy list. Would you use nn Gus for August? I love it! It's one of those that DH just laughed at, but I think Gus is adorable!

  • I love Eleanor! DH hated it but it is such a cute and very classic name! Don't listen to naysayers, you should remind them it could be worse, you could have named her Nevaeh. :)

Also August is on our list! Love it and it's a family name on DH's side.

As far as other names I really like Josephine, Rosemary, Louisa, Helen, Charlotte (Lottie), Francesca

  • I love the name Eleanor.... your boy name choices are great too!

I'm not big on nicknames (DD goes by Eleanor all the time), but DH and I both love Gus!  He also suggested the nn Gust after hearing it somewhere.  DH says he likes Sam a lot, but I have a feeling if it's a boy he will be August/Gus :).

  • Josephine, Evelyn, Carolyn, Mallory, Rachel, Corinne
  • I love Eleanor! It is on our list, spelled differently, though, after my husband's grandmother (Elinor, as in Dashwood lol).

How about Audrey? It's another one of our favorites. Though, not sure I like it with Jude..
