everyday is such a long day for me..my 8 wk. old only sleeps 1/2 hr to 45 min at a time and is awake for about an hour in between. i always feel like i am putting her to sleep! i dont know if i should try to keep her awake and maybe she'll sttart to take longer naps or what! anyone else?? what do u think?
Re: how long is your 8 wk. old awake between naps?
Awake anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Typically 60-90 minutes.
He usually has one "long" nap during the day that's between 1 and 2 hours and the rest of the naps are under an hour.
Keeping her awake probably won't help. . . and it might even backfire.
Do you have a routine for naptimes? If my DS just doses off somewhere, it's usually a shorter nap, but if he's put down in his crib and lightly swaddled, it will be one of the logner naps.

he probably sleeps a total of 1-2 hours from 9am until 7pm (minus today...he has an eye infection that I have a feeling has knocked him out). I let him sleep when he wants, and when he wakes up (shortly after falling asleep) we "play" on his activity gym or take a walk or just dance around while he fusses. The great thing is that he sleeps about 5-6 hours at a time at night now, so I don't think his day time sleeping is having any effect on him.
Alexandra isn't quite 8 weeks but she's up for about an hour and twenty, thirty minutes, and that includes eating, diaper change, play, cuddling and falling asleep after I've swaddled her. She'll sleep anywhere from 1 - 2 hours, sometimes less or more.
