Moms with graco travel systems

When did you start putting DC in the stroller without the carseat?

Re: Moms with graco travel systems

  • I haven't yet but have toyed w/ the idea.  I'm curious to see what others say.

  • Tried once but he seemed unsure of everything and started crying.  Haven't tried again but probably will soon.

  • At 6 weeks. He has great head control.

  • We tried a few times before but DS hated it.  But this past weekend we went OOT and used the stroller sans carseat and it was awesome - he really loved it!  He can sit up really well though and is not reclined at all - he has great head control and I think that's the main key.  He hated it when he was reclined and couldn't see anything.  FWIW I have the Graco Deco TS and we love it - now if we put him in the stroller he smiles!  GL and HTH

  • We've put DS in just the stroller a couple of times now.  The first time was just a couple of weeks ago when he was right about 4 months old.  It's still reclined slightly, but that's because he likes to reach for his toes. Smile
  • We did it at 2 months. We laid the seat back all the way back to where she was laying in it. She took a nice long nap!

  • We've put DS in the stroller from day one.  I got the travel system as a gift, but never actually used the car seat and stroller together.
  • I believe 4th of July was her first time in it with out the carrier so she was maybe 10 weeks old. We've done it once or twice since then, but majority of the time she's out with us we're in the car so she's in her carrier anyway. No sense unstrapping her from the carrier only to strap her into the stroller until it's necessary. Not sure how much longer we'll be using the carrier though, she's getting heavy to be lugged around in that thing!
  • We tried it when DD was 6 weeks old.  We had it slightly reclined and it had a head positioner thingy built into it. (we have the Quattro Tour in Deco).  She loved it!  I will usually put her in it if she has been in the carseat too long.
  • I tried it in it's medium recline position when she turned 4mos and she was okay in it but didn't last very long. I ended up carrying her home (while pushing the damn stroller) from our walk lol.

This weekend we used it in it's full recline and she was much more content in it for much longer.

I'm not sure why, as she has excellent head/neck/back control (plays in the jumperoo every day). Maybe she didn't like seeing things from that point of view yet.

  • Don't they frown upon just putting them in the stroller from "day one"? My DD had rockin' head control from early on too, but I wouldn't even have thought of it.

It was so easy for us to pop her from the car seat to the stroller when we used it, I don't think it occurred to me until... maybe 2 1/2 to 3 months? She loves it.

  • It never occurred to me not to use it 'from day one'.  The instructions didn't have a minimum weight/age requirement, mine has a head positioner, and we used it in the reclined position.  DS seemed content in it and his head wasn't flopping all over the place.
  • We did for the first time this past weekend, and she seemed to like it a lot. She passed out after about 20 minutes. The hard thing is she doesn't sit up yet, so she had to be reclined, and that did irritate her a litte.
  • About 4-4 1/2 months old. When she could sit up well enough in it while reclined.
