Pregnant after a Loss

Detergent

What are you planning on washing LO's clothes in? I found Dreft at Target over the weekend and wow...it is so expensive. I looked at a bunch of Free and Clear options too but they smell so odd to me. Is anyone planning on using regular laundry soap or am I asking for trouble?

Re: Detergent

  • I did use Dreft at first and now at nearly 4 years old I still have to use  (Tide fragrance free) or my dd gets itchy and breaks out with excema. I would def just bite the bullet and use it at first.

  • I bought All Free & Clear and used that to wash his clothes.  I didn't want to pay for the Dreft and I had read on these boards that any free and clear detergent should work just fine.

  • We already use Tide Free and our clothes don't really smell like anything IMO. DH has exzema so lord knows our kids probably will! I don't think I will switch to dreft.
  • We will just use a brand w/ Free & Clear.  I've used it before and IMO the clothes didn't really have any smell after washing.

  • Dreft isn't fragrance free so I didn't use it (and I really don't like the smell of it).  All free and clear is fragrance free and worked great for getting out baby stains and didn't irritate DDs skin.

  • I am sooooo glad that you said they smell funny to you! The girls on here thought I was crazy when I told them I thought all the free and clear options stunk....they literally made me gag in the store! Ick!

I ended up getting the dreft on sale and using a coupon and spending the same amount as I would on tide or something similar. I plan on using it at first for all the new stuff...but continue washing our clothes in reg detergent. We will see if he reacts to that at all. if not, then I will wash 1 or 2 item in regular deter. and see how he does. If he doesn't react or break out then I will eventually just switch to all regular!

This! While Dreft has a nice baby smell, that scent and the coloring added caused DS to break out in a rash and then peel! So I found myself with a very sick LO and having to wash every single article of clothing, blankets, sheets and burp rags he owned. I also had to wash all our clothes in Free and Clear because he would break out from touching our clothes while we held him.

I'm so glad you said this....I thought they smelled terrible. I know it's not supposed to have a small but yuck. I really like scented soaps though. Gain is my favorite.
