as getting your baby to sleep during the day for more than 30 minutes at a time? EVERY time I put my little guy down no matter where or how he wakes up after thirty minutes. PLEASE give me some tips on getting babies to take an effective nap.
My Dad takes DS out for a long walk every day and DS usually will take a good 2-3 hr nap in the middle of the day.
I don't know how he does it, because the only way DS will nap like that for me is if I take him out with me running errands. He'll nap in his carseat FOREVER.
Putting her down on her belly made all of the difference in the world. We're talking from minutes to hours. Of course I stay in the room and keep a constant eye on her.
When DS was 1 and 2 months, we used the swing and I would have to wake him up from every nap because he would literally sleep for 3+ hours. However, I wanted him to be able to sleep in his crib (or basically ANYWHERE else), so we quit cold turkey! Now, he sleeps for about 1 hour in the morning and then 30 minutes in the afternoon. I think some babies just aren't great nappers, unfortunately. One thing that has helped a little for us is using white noise.

have you tried swaddling? I bought a swaddle me because I could never wrap my daughter as good as they do in the hospital. She sleeps so much better when she's wrapped. Good Luck!

My DD thinks daytime naps longer than 30 minutes are for suckers.
She also mocks traditional bedtime hours at the moment.. Lucky for her she's cute.
So yeah, I got nothing. Though one thing that I've found works is a nice walk/fresh air. Tends to wear her out a bit more.
Ditto the swing idea.
I just talked to the nurse about short naps, my DS goes only 45 minutes. She wasn't concerned because he sleeps well at night.
DS takes 1 - 3 hour naps with one of these implemented. GL!
