long car ride to beach any activity suggestions??

Next week we will be going to HHI for vacation and it is about an 11 hour ride...ds and I will be leaving on Friday split the trip up into two days with grandma and stay at a hotel along the way...but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about so fun car activities for ds...we have a dvdplayer etc and books but any other ideas...

    We drove 9 hours to Myrtle Beach area last year.   We drove at night while DD was sleeping and did about 6 hours - then stopped, slept ourselves for ~6 hours; then got up w/ DD, everyone had breakfast and played for an hour or so and then we packed up again for another 3 hours in the morning - DD's best time of day.  It wasn't bad at all and we are going to do the same thing this summer.

    We just got back from our trip to NC which is about 9.5 hours from where we live...we left in the middle of the night so DS slept most of the trip, but I brought books, snacks, had the DVD player and I bought him a Magna doodle which he loved. We drive straight through on the way down and back but we have done it with DS since he was an infant and he is used to it. We did stop a couple time to stretch our legs though.
