Cloth and diaper rash

DD has had a really bad rash for almost two months now. The doctor said it looked yeasty and we got a Rx cream. I put her in disposables to use the cream and every time we get it cleared up and go back to cloth diapers, within one change it is back with a vengeance. I don't want to give up on the cloth diapers but this is insane. I have already used a ton of the cream and needed refills and it is $35 for a little jar.

Re: Cloth and diaper rash

  • did you try changing detergents or doing an extra rinse?  maybe she is having a reaction to the detergent or its just not all getting rinsed out?

  • DD has gone through bouts of that as well.  I would second changing detergents and adding an extra rinse or two.  I also add a kettle of boiling water to the wash cycle sometimes to get the water hotter and that seems to help.  Someone on EFF suggested using Grapefruit Seed Extract in the wash cycle as well to kill the yeast.  I bought some at Whole Foods and throw some of that in periodically as well.  GL!  Yeast rashes are nasty.
