Now that the baby's room is planned out, I'm starting to think about the registry. Before I start it, I was wondering if I should double some of the items since my mom will be taking care of the baby at her house once I'm on maternity leave. She said not to worry about that b/c she has someone who is going to give her a crib and everything else she needs by then. But, I'd rather add some of those items to the registry JIC.
If a member of your family is taking care of your baby while you're at work, did you add extra items to your registry for them? If so, what kind of items did you add?

My mom takes care of Nico at her house. We pretty much have a set of everything over there. We were lucky that we have a couple of friends with babies about a year older than Nico. So as they outgrew things, they passed it over to us.
If I were you, I'd put double items. You may or may not get seconds of all items but the less you have to buy, the better!
Thanks for the info. I'll make sure to get the manufacturer and model so that we can check it out before we use it.
The only reason I didn't do this was because we had a lot of access to hand-me-downs from other family members, so I didn't think it was worth it for my mom or MIL to get brand new (expensive) things from the registry. MIL watches Emma at our house, but both grandparents got 2nd hand gear to keep at their houses. Some friends passed on two baby swings to us, so there is one at each house, my MIL bought a pack'n'play and stroller from Craigslist, my mom had a pack'n'play from my little cousins and ended up buying her own inexpensive stroller and a car seat after Emma was born, etc.
Ultimately, it's not a bad idea at all, especially if you don't have access to other families who could pass stuff on to you. But keep your eyes out for good deals on Craigslist, eBay, etc. You can find really, really good stuff in great condition for a lot less than what the retail for at BRU.
