s/o strollers

No wonder I'm having such a hard time.  The first stroller I looked into was the Stokke Xplory (https://www.stokke.com/en-us/) after seeing it in a mag at the OB's office.  After seeing the price tag ($1K plus), I started shopping around and that's when I started getting overwhelmed, especially after seeing the range in prices and features.

Thanks for all your suggestions.  I found this site with very specific info and a helpful step by step process on the Baby Jogger City Select:  https://www.pishposhbaby.com/baby-jogger-city-select.html.  I'm leaning towards this one with one of the attachable car seats.

Re: s/o strollers

  • Alexis calls the Stokke the "Magic Trick stroller". He says it looks like the baby is floating in he air lol

Yup, my husband is a nerd.

  • Honestly, you may find that what you  like in a magazine is not what you like in the store.  Go to a store with a large variety, and spend some time test driving (for both you and DH).

Good luck, as there is a lot to choose from.  From my experience the most expensive ones are not the best ones either!

  • lol, Justine, I think that's what appealed to me the most.

I do need to spend some time in the stores.  I've been doing most of my shopping online.  The few times I've been to BRU, I don't see the same selection they have online.  I'm dying to go to BBB, though, and check everything out in person.

  • If interested, the following is the Stokke's Consumer Report's Ratings:

    Ease of use - Good
    Maneuverability - Excellent
    Safety - Very good

Overall rating of 67 out of 100.

  • Definitely go to BBB. The guys in the stroller department are awesome and now how to use all the products. They are always super helpful when we go. Alexis loves it there and he hates all store and anything that involves shopping. Lol Their selection also puts the ones @ BRU to shame. Make a date to go to BBB with the DH. Then you can goto Olive Garden after for lunch :)

  • I went a few months ago to BBB to buy a friend's shower gift and started strolling the stroller aisle.  I knew I had twins already, so was looking at the baby jogger... the guys were insistant in demonstrating to me how it worked!  Honestly, I was pleasently surprised overall on their customer service, not only on strollers.  In each "room" there was actually someone ready to help!  Def a lot diff from BRU.

  • Thanks, girls!  I've been waiting for school to end to look into things with time and tranquility.  So, I think I'll make it a date this weekend!
  • I agree - definitely test drive them before you decide!!

  • Also, try out the Peg Perego Skate!  It's really nice and the bassinet converts into a regular stroller seat without having to take it off the stroller or anything.  Of course, there's the Quinny Buzz.

With strollers, as with cars, you really need to test drive them.  La Ideal has all the strollers I mentioned.

  • You absolutely must go to the store and test out the strollers. Take them apart, pick them up, do everything you would do with the stroller to get a good feel for it. The people at BBB are experts and really helpful
  • DITTO to what all the girls have said about test driving. I swore up and down that I was gonna get the Quinny Buzz based on all my research until the day I actually stepped foot into Buy Buy Baby and tried to fold it on my own. Even though some people (including cocojack, whose SIL has one) had told me it was hard to fold, I loved the look of it so much and I had read so many positives things about it online that I was convinced I had to had it. Yeah, not so much when I actually tried to play around with it in person...

Anyway, I didn't answer your post below, but I have the Baby Jogger City Mini and the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio and I love both. The stroller is awesome. I don't think they had come out with the City Select or the City Elite yet until right when Emma was born or right after (we bought our stroller at some point in the 3rd trimester). But if I had seen those before, I might have gone for one of them instead of the City Mini, despite the slightly higher price point. I was a little apprehensive at first about not getting a stroller that had the bassinet option, but honestly I don't mind not having had it. What sucks about all this baby gear is that you really don't know for sure until your baby is born what you need, because you don't know what kind of baby you have or what they're going to like, or what you as a mom are going to like. Everyone is different.

We bought the car seat adaptor for the City Mini and used it as a snap and go with the Peg Perego when she was tiny, and then switched her to just the stroller about 3 months ago or so. Once, when she was a newborn and before we had installed the car seat adaptor, we put her in the stroller w/o the car seat for a walk around the block and it was really comfy for her. I just found the snap and go option really convenient when she would fall asleep in the car and I didn't want to wake her up by taking her out of the car seat. Also, when she was that tiny, I liked having her a bit higher off the ground and facing me. Now that she's bigger, it's fine for her to be looking out at the world :)

But yeah, I loooove my stroller. Love it!

  • I'm also considering the City Mini with the car seat adaptor.  I would use the car seat adaptor on either one.  What I like most about the City Select are all the different options that you can have with more than one child.  It's worth it if we have another baby in the near future.  But, IDK if I should be planning that far ahead, lol.
