recommend your stroller/car seat system

I'm totally avoiding this b/c the choices are overwhelming.  I haven't actually test driven any at a store;  I've only seen them online.  I would basically just want something lightweight, easy to collapse and store, and for mainly walking/shopping.  Also, a car seat that attaches and one that I could use from infant to toddler would be great!   Does this exist in one system, lol?!

Re: recommend your stroller/car seat system

  • Depends on your budget.  You can only attach infant carriers to strollers so it won't work as a toddler, sorry!  Our is not a travel system but the infant carrier did clip onto the stroller with adapters.  We have a Bugaboo Cameleon and or infant car seat was a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP.  It worked great as a snap and go type stroller once Liev no longer fit in the bassinet and now it still works great as a regular stroller.  It's fairly light weight and it "drives" great, you can pretty much do a circle in the spot with one hand.  I really like it.  Of course, it's not cheap.

  • form my previous experience I can tell you that I liked Chicco system that I used when I had my first baby,  I liked the design, the attachment for the car seat was very convenient,  it was a little heavy but manageable sp?.... later on when he was out of the infafnt car seat I got another stroller for him.

NOW with my second baby I am using the baby trend carseat and the snap and go and I LOVE IT !!!! it is super easy to use, maneuver and very light.  I say Snap ang go is the way to go...later on you can buy another stroller or you can register for the snap and go,  teh car seat that goes with nad the stroller to use later.

This for us except we have the bugaboo frog. We love it!

  • We just bought the Chicco Key Fit 30 travel system. It was one of the safest car seats listed by Consumer Reports. Although I wanted a pink carseat...we chose this one should our next baby be a boy. I plan to find a way to attach something pink :) Happy shopping.

  • Hmmm...  I think I need a stroller and car seat orientation, lol.

  • Baby's R Us gives a little class on carseats and strollers.  You should check into it.  We went to one and it was fairly informative.

If I had not gotten the Cameleon I would have gotten the Uppa Baby Vista 2010. The Bugaboo Bee 2010 is also pretty awesome, you can get the bassinet attachment for it too.

  • I have no clue about infant seats just yet, but for sure we are going w/ the double snap and go for use w/ infant seats, and later moving babies to the double stroller, probably the city mini by baby jogger.  Not sure if that helps, but I've heard that the snap and gos are awesome.  LOL

  • I have the bugaboo frog and used the maxi cosi mico infant car seat with the adapters. I love it and I loved using the bassinet till he was like 4/5 months. My mom has a peg perrego uno stroller and primo viaggio car seat for Eric and its great! Have fun and take your time shopping!
  • I used the chicco key fit travel system with alexis.

However, checkout the Baby Jogger City Select - I am in LOVE with this stroller!!!!! It's totally customizable - can be used like a carriage at first or with a car seat (I think it works with the chicco), then it will grow with you all the way to toddler stage and you can even add an infant seat later on and make it a double for when you have #2!!!  It's pricey, but you can use it for years so I think it's worth it.  It's what I'll get when (if) I have a second baby.

I like this one a lot too!  I'm actually in between the select and the mini.  The only thing that I don't like about the mini is that the canopies are smaller, and the seats don't recline all the way like the select does.  However, if you use the bassinet feature at the beginning, no worries.  LOL

jackie, the seats recline all the way flat in the mini.  Sarah's been in the actual stroller seat since she was born and the canopies are huge!!  they cover ALL the way down (it unfolds 3 times, so the entire seat is shaded when it's 180 flat and for abby, when she's sitting up, only her feet get a little sun)

Thanks for correcting me.  I actually wrote it all backwards.  I want to get the mini... the select is the one that the seats don't recline all the way and has smaller canopies.  LOL

  • I used Chicco infant seat and a snap n go (Maclaren). I LOVED both things, it made it much easier to manage and super light weight (in comparison to systems).

  • At the time I was registering for Spencer, I felt the best infant carrier/seat for us was the graco snug ride, and I was lent a snap-n-go (most convenient thing ever!). once he had outgrown the carrier, we used (still use) the Peg Prego Pliko P3.  I love  my Peg.  I recommend going to Baby Love (they had the largest variety) and test driving.  The peg worked best for us, as my DH is tall and it fit him the best.

  • I have the Bugaboo chameleon and the Graco Snugride car seat. I love the stroller. By far the best money spent. I use it daily and have even gone running with it. The bassinet was awesome when C was a baby because she would sleep in it and we'd let her sleep in it if we were downstairs in the house. It's a really smooth stroller and it can take a beating. I feel like I've gone off roading with it and it has held up to the beating. One thing that really attracted me to the stroller was the resale value (silly, I know); you may pay a lot for it in the beginning but you can easily get a few hundred dollars if you sell after you are done with it.

Drawbacks are the price, you have to take it apart to close and store it, and it takes up a lot of trunk space (even more if you put the bassinet in the trunk).

I think the stroller is worth the money if you plan on using it a lot. But if you only plan on using it for short trips then I think there are better and less expensive strollers out there.

  • We have the Peg Perego Pliko P3 stroller and the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP.  We love both but I absolutely loooove the stroller, I find that it is easy to handle, open/close plus I love the quality, I have traveled with it 3 times on a plane so I am sure they must somewhat throw it around and in 9 months it doesn?t even have a scratch!

  • We had the Chicco Keyfit 30 which I loved!!!! Best carseat I tried and we'll be getting another one for the next baby because I gave mine away prematurely =(  When he was an infant I would drop it into the snap n go and off we'd go... it was super comfortable. When I switched him to the Marathon we began using the Peg Perego Pliko P3 which is great. Easy to maneuver, folds comfortably and you can find a lot of discontinued patterns for much lower prices than the new ones in store. I got mine at TJ Max for 150.
