Success after IF

I need more "alternative IVF" options to chase.

So it looks like I may not qualify for any of the 3 warranty programs here in MN, we're still digging, but it's not looking good. I'm pretty hysterical about it. I can't just sit and wait to see what my beta-3 testing says, I need to have a plan in place if it shows no answers. (which let's be honest, story of my life.... lol)

I am looking into arcfertility.com, we'd have to go to a neighboring state, but oh well. It ain't CR. lol.

There was that Japanese doc in Chicago I was looking at prior - Name? But I guess he passed away, and the future of his clinic is ???

We still can't stomach the thought of a "full priced" IVF here. We REALLY liked the idea of a warranty program, so at least we'd get a chunk back for (int'l) adoption.

So if you have any more ideas on places to research, that offer more alternative ways of doing IVF... or studies, or whatever... please let me know.

(oh, I did enter for that "free IVF a month" giveaway someone mentioned, thanks! ;-)  )

  • THis is probably no help at all but I know SIRM which have clinics all over teh country are very big on immune testing adn issues adn they are have shared risk programs.  They have a message board where you can ask questiosn adn the doctors do respond.

  • I think I might've missed something somewhere along the line and I haven't asked since because I don't want to be a douche, but...why IVF?  Is there something in the IVF process that you're thinking could prevent a loss?  Is there a reason why an IVF pregnancy would be more likely to stick for you than an unassisted/medicated/IUI pregnancy would?

  • valid question, you're not a douche ;-)

We're NOT sure we need to do IVF yet. But I'm turning 37 this month, and know it's not like we can just do an IVF next week if we want to. So we're exploring all options at this point, and then once we get more answers from these odd tests (or simply eliminate yet ANOTHER thing it's not) then we can lock and load on the treatment choice they say we need.  I cannot move forward on any ART until we know more. It's obvious something is wrong with me, just have to find it. Obviously we hope we can avoid IVF.

In other words: I'm just grasping at freeking straws.

  • When I had all my chemicals and was at the end of my rope and desperate to become a mom, I decided to pull out the big guns and go to CCRM.  (Granted, FET #2 worked right after my CCRM phone consult.)  The cost is a lot to stomach, but the thought of never having a child was a much much worse thing to stomach.  I just wanted to go the route that would yield the best results.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Gotcha.  That makes sense.  I was just hoping you weren't jumping into another IVF as a hail mary, you know?  Good luck finding a cause (and better luck finding a solution).

While I agree with your thinking and statement, we can't fathom the pricetag for CCRM. Especially since we a) have Ava and b) plan to eventually adopt.

I do have plans to consult with them, would be silly NOT to. thanks, though.

  • I'll chime in with a question too...what happened to the silent endo/gonna have a ex lap thoughts?  Did I miss a post?

I'm prone to do that ;-)

CNY is pretty popular among the DE set for their good deals.  They do OE IVF too - they have some package deals but I'm not sure what the quals are. Obviously you'd have to travel, but $9K for 4 cycles is a pretty sweet deal. (you pay OOP for meds, ultrasounds, labs)

you missed nothing, it's still happening. I travel in a couple weeks to SC for the study, and consult, and then we'll go from there. (lap 'n lupe , I hope. lol)

I just need a backup plan if that shows we're incorrect in our suspected dx.

  • I went to SIRM in Las Vegas- they are really big into autoimmune testing- I did an intralipids infusion before my IVF cycle- it helps to lower your natural killer cells- they are having a lot of succes with it. I did get pg with that IVF, but it didnt work out.

Have you thought about Micro IVF, its kinda a mini IVF- less money- SIRM does them for about $5000.

I know SIRM is also starting a new finance program- that may be something to look into. I LOVED SIRM- Dr. Sher was great! really knows his stuff!

  • I think I have read that ShadyGrove in MD/D.C. has one of the best shared risk IVF programs in the country. I did 1 of my 4 cycles there - very state of the art (no pun intended). People travel from all over to participate in it.

Dr. Zouves in San Fran is supposed to be pretty amazing too www.goivf.com. I loved his book!

Have you checked out the ivfconnections.com boards? Treasure trove of info!

You probably know this, but SIRM does phone consults too.

  • I don't know if you saw my response to your post about silent endo and the beta-3 testing, but I don't think you should lose hope there. It can't hurt to research other options either, but I'm really hoping the lap shows something that will give you answers. I agree with possibly looking into SIRM as I think it's much cheaper than CCRM. And I'm in Vegas with PrincessShay if you decide to come this way and you need anything at all. Good luck!

  • Try Natural IVF.  No drugs and 1/2 the cost of regular IVF.  And, it works in women with AMA & DOR!!  It's also called "mini IVF."  Not all of the REs do it, but here's a link to my RE who does (and is one of the pioneers in the field).  https://www.naturalcycleivf.net/green-fertility/green-fertility.aspx
